Could you tell us why you feel this is bad news for you? In all international play since July 2014, the 40+ Poly ball is what has been used. How would things any different for the Olympics?

I play with poly and celluloid and the celluloid breaks more than the poly. I'm using NP + Xushaofa for poly and for celluloid Butterfly and DHS.

From my not so large experience with poly balls I've noticed that they CAN last longer than old balls, but under a certain circumstance : you have to protect them from hitting hard objects at high speeds - that may be the edge of your racket, a wall, the floor, etc. If you hit with the edge of your racket quite often, it's most probable that the poly ball won't last as long as a cell ball would in the same situation. I'll say more, they can last catastrophically worse - you can break that ball before the white powder comes off of it.
