I can tell you that Kanak has an influence on the Indian market simply because a lot of Indians are also Americans and vice versa. The ICC(guess what the I stands for) was/is one of the biggest training centers in the USA and while Kanak didn't train there, it was how Massimo got into the US scene as a coach after being India's coach for a while and went back. I don't know about France from an immigration perspective but I would be surprised if Indians dont identify with Pavade. Tony can provide his opinion since he was in the Indian league on wherher Kanak was treated purely as an American while he was there. Ethnicity still does something beyond the first generation. There is a reason why Italians like John Oyebode or Tiago Abiodun are followed by Nigerians despite never playing for Nigeria.
Indian - American Indian bond is probably way stronger than you put it and this type of info you can't find on tieba.
I'm sure zeio will be quoting your wise words on tieba

To keep this short, Jimmy O. Yang/歐陽萬成, born in Hong Kong and moved to the US at 13, tried to use his "Hong Kong heritage" as a selling point recently. Guess what? Many locals found it hard to resonate.

MC Jin is another example.

Kanak Jha (Table Tennis, Canada)
Another Indian origin athlete competing at the Paris Games will be USA table tennis player Kanak Jha.

Jha's mother Karuna is from Mumbai while father Arun was raised in Kolkata and Prayagraj. Both are IT professionals.

Jha's fascination with table tennis started at the India Community Centre in Milpitas, California. He and his elder sister Prachi, also a TT player, immediately wanted to try out the sport.

In no time he started beating players twice his size. To keep him close to his roots, Jha's mom enrolled him in a Jainshala and Hindishala, centres where he could learn Hindi and about Jainism.

The 24-year-old is a four-time U.S. National Champion (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) and two-time Olympian (2016, 2020).

He was USA's youngest athlete at the 2016 Rio Olympics and also the first American to win a medal at the Youth Olympics in Argentina in 2018. He will be competing in the men's singles event at Paris.

Whether that works is a different story, but the announcement poster has a mixed France/India flag next to Pavade's name, so Gewo is at least intentionally putting this forward.

I don't think I've ever seen Pavade presented as such in France – the country has a very different approach to integration, one that puts much less emphasis on heritage compared to the US. Origins are acknowledged but being born and having grown up in France, she's considered to be French and would never be referred to as Franco-Indian.
