How come the levels of ranking points differs in usa compared to europe(sweden). In sweden the maximum is 2500. Every 1 july the level is callibrating down to 2500 from let say 2650 the highest Moregard. In the united states the level of points is quit higher. Is it because they dont calibrate every year?
The basis of ranking system i presume is the same in every country or am i wrong about that.

To provide more information, most are based on an ELO-type system (as mentioned by @Tyce), but the parameters are different. The first link provides a comparison of USTAA with German TTR. The second link explains the German TTR in more detail. The third link provides an introduction to USATT.

I am based in Japan where there is no official rating. However, there are unofficial systems and if your number of rating points is 1828 you are in the top 3% (as of April 2025) of players participating in these unofficial tournaments.

In Belgium, they use the ELO system for all league players. So last season, there were almost 12,000 league players. The highest placed player was Q. Robinot with 2990 ELO points.
