I think G1, has a more natural and high throw angle, easy to clear the net and land on the tableWhich is more controllable, R45 or G-1?
That puts a nice perspective on the whole "control" issue.1) Incredible spin (especially for such a soft rubber) that is easy to generate.
2) Aggressive blocking that puts the attacker in precarious positions.
Yes, like I said if everybody would use the term in direct relation to their own game only, there could not be any general discussion. But still, G1 does its job by simply putting the ball on the table via blocks, which is probably what most people consider as "control".
Sure, it all depends on style. Personally, I just spin from both wings and attack anything, even uncomfortable balls (lack of sheer power is my bane, gotta admit). So of course I only care for control during attacking to maintain spinny attacks, and this is where R45 (like many other R variants) is a godsent.Yes, like I said if everybody would use the term in direct relation to their own game only, there could not be any general discussion.
But you will surely agree that many would consider G1 as too fast and not controlled enough if they favour Sriver and the likes ;-)
