Friend, I am not saying this because I heard it from 3rd party, I own one before and play with it for a couple of months.

What hit me when I lay my eyes on R45 EC version is how good the quality is, so German, and so green, like fresh parsley. Play wise, R45 is noob friendly. Like your typical middle aged nice German uncle living next door smoking his pipe with his lederhosen ( Definitely not a Berliner type ). Refined, quiet and unassuming.

It is like a better quality of Donic M2. However, I did not ever buy another piece because the price is now very close to Tenergies. It is like a situation where you add another USD 100.00 you can buy a Rolex instead of an Omega. This is how it is... R45 price is ridiculously close to the Tenergy range these days.

The only thing I´d add, for a low level player coming from a beginner rubber Hexer Grip might be a useful intermediate step, as R45 performs very closely to R48 despite the soft(er) sponge. But that of course also depends on what one is used to.

R45 is an excellent rubber, the one I would call a "blocking machine". It is spinny and the durability is decent, the only downside is that finishing points is a bit harder than with R47/R48.
