If you buy balls in Aliexpress, I highly recommend finding a guy who can give you a bulk discount on DHS D40+. Sometimes you can get 50 balls for 30€ which is like 0.6€ per ball. Most of the price is shipping so.. The more you put in a package, the more you can save. If you go around a club and ask, you can find that people will buy a box of balls if they like it.

I've purchased a box of every available balls for testing. Joola, Tibhar, Donic, Gewo, Prott, Sanwei, DHS (two kinds), Butterfly, Double Fish and XUSHAOFA. DHS D40+ won, Double Fish WTT runner up. Now everyone just once a half a year contributes to the group order. It comes to like a couple of €€€ per box, so people just acecpted it, and always carry a box. I think I lost more balls than broken.

To me the BEST ball is a new or nearly new one-preferably 3 star. I have tried some 2 star (Komann) that are pretty good. Brand does not matter to me as much as age of ball. I love to try new brands and make my clubmates frustrated...
Among new balls I like almost all-Joola flash is one am not a fan of.
I cannot stand it when my opponent wants to play with a 3 month old NP 40+ which is worn smooth. I prefer to play with ANY 3 star ball over that smooth piece of junk-but almost always give in for social reasons.

Nittaku: They are heavy and you can hit them hard, but I feel they don't spin as much. They last (reallllly) long but they get polished and shiny over time which makes them even worse in terms of spin.
DHS D40+: They are great but they break easy. Also I'm not a big fan of their sound.
Butterfly r40+: Terrible, only good for multiball.
Double Fish V40+ WTT 3 Star: For me this is the best of the bunch and my go to.
