I never heard the expression second before.

It appears at very fast balls with high spin. It can be achieved with any blade really if you hit hard enough with the right technique.

If you look at TtGearLab (they have a web site) the characteristics of this blade has what they call “deep hold”. This makes it a teeny wheeny bit easier to spin with while still having high speed. A top layer of hinoki (or spruce) on a fast blade does the same thing.

Anyway it is probably a great blade.

Cheers

Thank you for your recommendation, I will read their blog.

"Deep hold" is a very interesting concept, Both it and the "second speed" could also try to explain the characteristics of spinning balls emitted from different blades, hitting the table and popping out.

There is no denying that this is the case, however for most players I think some blades are easy to do and some are not.

If you think about it, starts with deep hold and the effect is second speed.

But, Flex has more to do with how easy it is to generate spin, specially at lower levels. To be able to use deep hold you must have a high level.

I like a blade with:
- A little flex
- Soft outer layer
- Hard layer under the outer
- 85g weight.

It would be even better if you sent them a few blades to test🤩

A question for Andrea - these Verdi blades are available at https://sanweisport.com/en/product/blade/expert-carbon/verdi/ for $119. Isn't it a bit too much for the brand known for selling blades in a much lower price segment, like under $50? There are a lot of options available at $100+ from more established brands. Even Butterfly has Timo Boll Spirit at $114 (US price). It's just not realistic for Sanwei to be able to compete at this price segment, is it?

so second speed is the acceleration when the topsin lands and the spin in the ball makes a second acceleration?
Second speed is a direct translation from Chinese, 二速. Basically, it refers to how much the ball kicks forward after landing on the table.

@Andrea Jiang , is the blade manufactured in china or some other country. I have a feeling it may be korea

Nice to meet you, my friend.

I am happy to answer your question. First of all, the price of the blade is mainly due to the difficult manufacturing process of polyarylate fiber and its scarcity in the market. In fact, there are not many blades using polyarylate fiber on the market.

As a Professional tabletennis brand, we need to provide responsible choices to players of all levels who love our brand. And, there are many youth team players who use our products, and it is our responsibility to provide them with high-level blades.

SANWEI uses Verdix Fiber to improve your competition! View attachment 30996
What is Verdix fiber?

Verdix fiber is an innovative composite material that weaves Polyarylate and SANWEI Heavy Carbon fibers(PLC). By incorporating Polyarylate fiber into the construction of table tennis blades, we unlock several significant advantages.

One of the key benefits of Verdix fiber is its ability to generate faster spin. The unique properties of Polyarylate fibers contribute to increased ball-holding time, allowing players to impart more spin on their shots with less effort. This is particularly advantageous for offensive players who rely on spin to dominate their opponents.

Verdix fiber enhances the second speed of the blade. This means that after the impact, the ball retains its velocity for a longer duration, resulting in quicker and more dynamic returns.

Hi, I am interested in this, I play only Hurricane 3 because the "second speed" is what I live for... Some people on this thread simply don't have the experience with it, even though Timo Boll for example explained his move from Tenergy to Dignics exactly for that, showing video comparison side by side, Tenergy type rubbers and soft sponge in general simply have more energy on impact and less ball acceleration on topspin after bounce. Which is exactly why there is no one left in the top 30 male playing Tenergy 05 or equivalent on forehand, because the ball is too easy to predict for the opponent. Most playing harder sponge, hybrid kind nowadays for a reason, which is exactly the second speed you are mentioning. Also I saw on 淘宝 you had a new Power version of Fextra 7, I am interested but there are no reviews outside China. Could you contact me? Thanks! 可以加我微信julieng

Hi dear, sorry for the late reply to you.

I totally agree with your feelings. As you said, many players in China pursue second speed, which will increase the lethality of the ball after hitting the table. Chinese style Rubber can indeed make manufacturing second speed easier and more powerful.

For the Fextra 7, we don't provide them to the international market, we use the SANWEI Fextra One to replace it.

Best regards,

@Andrea Jiang For a modern defender, like Panagiotis Gionis (chop and pushes with Feint Long 2, backhand) and fast attacks with forehand (Tenergy 05Hard), he plays with Korbel blade, what type of Sanwei blade do you recommend? Is one available for Chinese, Asia or International market that will suit a player with such playing style? And if yes, which model?
