From the ones I know or saw, they would use 1 layer (or 2 max) on Butterfly, to just soften it up a bit and give it some kick
I mostly only saw these 3 out there
T05 Hard
D09C
D05

The words from them - everyone is doing it.
I tried boosting some EUR rubbers (with Falco Long Booster) and saw that it works best with hard, dense sponge. Boosting with softer rubbers would make them mushy and even loose bounciness.

I always boost all my rubbers - no matter if dignics or hurricane or tenergy or whatever.
not boosting is like sacrificing 20-30% control and spin for no reason and means having to switch after 3-4 months when you can easily play 6-8 months.
Also, even some ESN hybrids can be too hard out of the package, and need booster. Probably something to do with shelf storage time and hardness variability.

Therefore, not boosting => doesnt make sense, unless you use soft rubbers.
