A bit about myself first,

I am 1600 GER/NL rating, which is about 1900 usatt? I am quite young (18) and i am playing for 8 years now. During that time 2 years penhold (chinese rpb)

Now i have been playing 3 years shakehand and found (for me) big succes with it. But recently i have been starting to enjoy playing tabletennis less. This has massive impact on how i play.
Now i still love tabletennis, but i want to switch up my style a bit.

Should i go for penhold, or stay with shakehand? My mind is telling me no, but my heart says penhold for life.

When your aspirations are not to become a pro I would chose the style you enjoy most.

I think until at least a 2000 rating (probably really more than like 2200) every style can work when you master it.

You have to be prepared to take a step temporarily though. Also if you playing in a team like most people in Europe too your teammates might be a little upset if you lose due to tinkering with a new style so maybe practice it a little before using it in games.

Sure, switch to penhold or switch racket setup
