Hello everyone, I'm QuanQuan, a table tennis YouTuber from Taiwan. There is a table tennis hall at Banqiao MRT Station in Taipei, Taiwan. For those seeing it for the first time, it might be quite shocking since MRT stations are generally just places for commuting. I never thought I could play table tennis or even host a competition in an MRT station. This video features a corporate league held inside the MRT station, involving friendly matches between teams from the Presidential Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Investigation Bureau, Taipei District Court, National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, Ministry of Finance, Rising Sun Technology, Caitlin, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation, and Compal Electronics.

This table tennis venue was launched last year.
It is the only public table tennis venue in any stations (bullet train, train, bus, mrt) in Taiwan.
So it isn't common at all.

many improvements has been made since its inauguration. IE. the first tables were second hand and really complain-able. There was no proper flooring and was very slippery and all these feedback was received and the company took the initiative to introduce new tables, new floorings etc.

The venue would normally host social/amateur tournaments every weekend. It is very busy and is open for public booking/use basically daily and I believe the venue cost is pretty cheap (I can't remember what is the current price now).

I actually haven't been there before in person, since I don't travel to that side of town much often.

There are a lot of "public" and private table tennis venues to play in Taiwan. the public ones are normally cheaper, the par rate is about NTD100 or USD3 per hour per table.
Some are as low as USD0.8 per hour per person or even free usages.

I was just here. I don't speak Mandarin and don't understand the customs very well so I found it a bit difficult to initiate a game here on a weekday. Additionally I couldn't figure out how to make an account. I think I need a metro ID. I may come back on a weekend for better open play conditions. Though I think there's a tournament on weekends.

We have 4 MRT stations with Table Tennis available to book for free now in Singapore as well. It started in 2023 I believe with the first one.

It’s pretty interesting idea and attract a lot of curious people coming to watch the games. At one of the station, there is a regular who is there almost
Everyday with a sign and extra blades asking for
Anyone to come join him for a
Game. He just seats there reading a book waiting for people who have 5
Mins to play when his friends are not there 😅

there is a QR code for you to book, or I think you can do it online too.
I have never played there, so I'm not exactly sure how it works.

There is now 2 MRT stations with the similar setup.
