Thoughts on Fan Zhendong move to German Bundesliga?

I assume he would get a lot less money? But perhaps Chinas relentless pressure is not worth all the money in the world xD

I wrote about my views on the FZD move here but TLDR I think it's great for the global development of the sport, on many levels– the revenue he will generate would be great for the Bundesliga, and will trickle down Germany's club ecosystem, it will give his international teammates and opponents with great match and training experience etc...

He should actually make WAY more via his base salary in Germany than if he were to stay in China (but obviously the bulk of his wealth comes from endorsements and commercial opportunities which I assume would be more difficult to capitalise on if he were in China). But I'm sure that not having rabid fan girls on his tail is a huge bonus for him, he seems to struggle with the publicity a bit more than his other CNT teammates

Probably doesn’t need the money since he can get most of his money from Chinese sponsorships. These sponsorship would probably pay more than what he can get from
The CTTSL.

Not necessarily. ZJK is said to earn 5 mil RMB (.6 mil EUR as of today) from CTTSL alone in 2015. Once you take the tax into account, FZD would get maybe half of the said 1.2 mil EUR.
