Latest Women's Singles World Ranking

Currently, Hayata and Odo are neck to neck vying to be the fourth highest ranked Japanese player (or better). Both are scheduled to play Champions Montpellier, Champions Frankfurt, and Star Contender Muscat.

Seems like neither Ito or Hashimoto are playing anymore tournaments until Hong Kong WTT Finals. Hashimoto has qualified but Ito is currently 15th with around 600 points separating her and Kihara at 16th. Wonder how safe she is and whether Odo and Hayata have a chance to overtake both of them again before the year ends.

Odo has qualified and Hina has already surpassed Ito and Kihara

I meant in terms of ranking
Oh... it's going to be hard to surpass Mima as she has a really good draw in Montpellier. Hina has a tough draw with a 1st round match with WYD. Satsuki has a pretty good draw and could meet Honoka in the 2nd round. With Honoka not attending Champions Frankfurt and SC Muscat, there's a decent possibility she could be surpassed by either Hina or Satsuki. Satsuki and Hina are the top seeds for SC Muscat so a very good chance one of them wins it.

I disagree. Odo would have to reach the SF to add to her points tally. Presumably, she would have to win against Kuai Man in the QF and she is 0-4 in their H2H so far.
It's a pretty good draw in the sense that she is favored to prevent Honoka from increasing the gap which also would help Hina. She still has Frankfurt and Muscat to close or possibly eliminate that gap. Better to meet Honoka in the 2nd round than the Chinese. But she can't get ahead of herself. Zeng Jian played great against Mima Ito and DHK at SC London.

WTT Champions Montpellier

MS R32

Hiroto Shinozuka vs Omar Assar 3-1 (-6,2,14,7)
Sora Matsushima vs Anders Lind 3-0 (9,9,3)
Tomokazu Harimoto vs Yukiya Uda 3-2 (3,-6,-8,6,8)

WS R32
Mima Ito vs Elisabeta Samara 2-3 (-9,5,3,-9,-9)
Honoka Hashimoto vs Yangzi Liu 3-1 (-9,2,7,8)
Hina Hayata vs Wang Yidi 1-3 (12,-7,-4,-6)
Satsuki Odo vs Zeng Jian 2-3 (8,-9,-10,10,-2)
Miwa Harimoto vs Jia Nan Yuan 3-0 (5,11,12)

Due to the first-round exits of Odo and KM the draw opened up nicely for Hashimoto. Personally, I would have liked to watch Hashimoto vs KM, but a very good chance of making the SF and potentially having another shot at Miwa Harimoto or WYD is probably even better.

I believe at present Kihara would be ousted from her 16th spot as Joo Cheonhui has advanced to the 2nd round of Champions Montpellier which is worth 90 pts. Since Joo and Kihara are separated by just 74 points, Joo should be ahead of Kihara in the Race To the WTT Finals on Tuesday's rankings update. Joo is also listed for Champions Frankfurt. Both are listed for SC Muscat.

From the standpoint of Asian Games 2026, Ito is currently better positioned than Hashimoto, unless Hashimoto reaches the final in Montpellier.

2025/4 (whether JTTA chooses 3/31 or 4/7 as the first WR of Apr)
Ito
3/31 2990-350-100-90+90*3=2720
4/7 2990-350-175-100-90+90*4=2635
Hashimoto as of CS Montpellier 2025
QF 2740-420+175=2495
SF 2740-420+350=2670
F 2740-420+700=3020
W 2740-420+1000=3320

Now 以小人之心,度君子之腹, will Harimoto yield to Hashimoto? There's double bronze for Asian Games, but the problem is ZYL (assuming she'll play), so JNT can't secure #3 and #4 seeds and the 2 JNT players might land in the same half. In terms of H2H, Ito is the easier of the two, but making them invest time and effort to compete for the 2nd WS spot until the last minute is more ideal...

Missed chance for Hashimoto to add to her world ranking points, but it was an amazing match to watch and credit to Joo who played very well.
