Update equipment?

Hi all

Coming back to the game after playing casually 10+ years ago, never to a great standard but I've started taking lessons again and looking to really progress into an aggressive, attacking style.

Currently use a Timo Boll Forte and Stiga Almana/Butterfly Catapult rubbers from 10 years ago. I'm guessing at least the rubbers need replacing, if not the blade as well.

Any suggestions as to where start on rubbers and potentially blade? From my reading something like Razka 7/7 soft and a more all round blade, or stick with the blade and just replace the rubbers?

Just rubbers. Rakza 7 great choice.

maybe a Butterfly Rozena or Nittaku Factive if you are intermediate,played both good rubbers.
The Catapult has 35 japan scale shore? so should be around the same sponge hardness.
I personally would just replace rubbers first so you can get a feal for the new rubbers,and then you can adjust your blade accordingly.

Also consider joining a club. Most people be happy to share their equipment to try. If you are an intermediate player the rubber will not make that much difference. Just pick something relatively modern i.e. Rakza 7, Rozena, Xiom Vega or Victas Ventus.

Thanks all, with regard to thickness. Any tips on that 2mm or max?

Yep. Rakza 7 is a do-it-all rubber, or try Chinese rubbers like Yinhe Big Dipper, DHS Hurricane 3 NEO or 729 Battle Max Pro on FH if you work really hard, brush a lot, and put a Rakza 7 on the BH.
