What is the closest ESN equivalent to Spring Sponge nowadays?

Another thing different about Glayzer and G1 is their dependence on blades. G1 works about the same and feels similar on most blades, but Glayzer works very differently on different blades.

The philosophy of both rubbers are also quite different. G1 felt like a calm Tenergy05. Glayzer felt like a calm Dignics05. G1 mimics the spin sensitivity and bounciness I felt on Tenergy05 but has both of these aspects reduced, while Glayzer retains the excellent grip of the Dignics05 and spring sponge X feel just with a softer sponge and less catapult.
On these two points I'm inclined to agree.

I used the G1 on multiple blades and it was mostly the same. Glayzer has been amazing on my current blade (inner carbon, spruce top ply) but was not as lively--though still a fine rubber--on my Yinhe Pro 05 (inner, limba) and Donic Skachkov Carbon (outer, koto). Based on that experience, I can see why people are hot and cold on Glayzer, and how G1 could seem bouncier in some applications.

says mid distance powerlooping!

This is one of the unique characteristic Butterfly rubbers seem to have. They work very differently on different blades.

Tenergy05 felt mushy and spin sensitive on my Innerforce and but was a beast of speed shots on my Joola Tezzo Spartan outer carbon. Glayzer was too slow and a little muted on an all wood Falcima but was ripping crackling powerloops at mid distance with the Innerforce.

The spring sponge X really does not dissapoint, but you'll need to find the right blade for it, or perhaps find the right butterfly rubber for your blade.
