It would be enough to combine Ma Lin and Wang Hao into one player. But that is easier said than done. He would need both TPB and RPB as both have their advantages, e.g. when blocking over/at the table against a fast loop or when pushing, TPB is the best option. But for a banana flick and topspinning, you need RPB.

The problem all the best penholders have is that they come/came from China and their teammates train with them every day and know them inside out so there is always one player who will beat them - that is why they got into so many Olympic/WTTC finals but won only a few of them. It is like Boll vs. Ovtcharov - Boll is more technical, Ovtcharov is a more powerfull looper, but there is nothing with which Boll can surprise Ovtcharov after so many years so he is at a natural disadvantage, not taking age into account.
