Why did DHS skipped 4, 5, 6, 7?

this is a very common practice for asian manufacturers of stuff.

for example if a typical western manufacturer would have 5 product release candidates with internal designators #1 through #5 and release #2 and #4, they would release #2 under the name SnailGoo and the #4 under SnailGoo Hypr. while an asian company would just release #2 as #2 and #4 as #4.

Now the question, will there be a successor to the H3 anytime soon? Or atleast this decade. I mean the Neo is turning 20 soon and the og steers towards 30.
I thought H8 was meant to be a successor. I never tried that so I don't know. But H3 is very popular in China, probably the best seller every year. It's unique and it's not expensive, so I don't see many people want to switch. So there is no urge for DHS to look for a successor. One possible scenario is if the Chinese team does badly for a few years. Then people might see the top star players use other rubbers and would want to try those. Then DHS will want to get back the market share.

To be honest, though, DHS will have to release something soon. We are officially in the age of the Super Tensors with 2.5- 2.7 mm sponges and ESN pushing out new rubbers almost every 2 months. All other players apart from the Chinese national team are looking better and better(because of their new equipment). I'm not sure how much longer H3 will be able to win consistently over the next 5 years. CNT players are looking more mortal by the tournament. I am sure the DHS RND team have been working incredibly hard to develop the next great hurricane that will be able to once again redefine table tennis rubbers and propel CNT players to immortality once again!

Ooh, my dummy logic thought it's some kind of superstition about #4 (四, sì) is considered the most unlucky number because it is a homophone for "death" (死, sǐ).

I guess yeah H8 was meant to be a successor but seems like it flopped

This. And the number 8 is considered lucky because it's two round circles which is a good thing. Chinese are very superstitious. Some hotels don't even have a 4th floor.

Especially now FZD is using Zyre 03 on the FH. After a bad final in Champions league with lots of FH mistakes. In the Bundesliga final, he seems already better with it. I can't imagine how insane a Zyre with tacky topsheet could be.

every new rubber requires adjustments; I won't be surprised if FZD will transition to Zyre fully with advantages of it. Modern TT is becoming speed\placement over spin and power. It's more athletic with compact strokes nowadays

You're both right. Hurricane 8 with the #25 sponge didn't become popular. But some pros do use H8-20 and H8-80. So the topsheet is not a flop.
I did like H8 with #25 sponge. Unfortunately, only in commercial. But never played H8-20. But H8-20 is only (or mostly) in red sheet for BH. I used H8-25 on FH in black.

H8-80 is broadly available in black too. H8-20 might be only in red, or at least I never saw black before.

Actually I wonder more about the approved rubber registration number logic of DHS. Why is H3's registration number 108 or H8's 54 etc. Normally manufacturers go in order of release of the rubber and of course I know some are skipped since the manufacturer doesn't sell them but with DHS I don't get the logic. Wonder what conspiracy theory is behind this.

That would be so hilarious.
The CNT loses a few games, blames the equipment and starts EJing 😂
Maybe they'll start posting in here for advice on blade pairings! 😉

My bad, I meant H8-20, I did a review of H8-80 so I unconciously wrote 80 instead of 20. I will change my first message, so for future reader, I meant H8-20 only in red.

that's not what I meant. I meant other players would rise, and they use other rubbers which would get more exposure.

Well you worded it about as badly as could be done.
So what did you want tobdlsay, exactly?
If I understand correctly you were supposed to say:
- players not using H3 might consistently occupy the top places of the world rankings
- which might impact the sale of H3
- which might in turn lead DHS to what, magically invent a new rubber so that Chinese players can claim their rightful place at the top again?
This still puts equipment ahead of talent.

Im not sure if anyone has any idea as to what you are actually saying 😂

According to my understanding he is trying to say other top players rubbers will get more recognition caused by CNT gradually going down the chart. ( e.g, wcq goes down the chart and truls goes up, people will search for his rubber)

could be wrong tho, so idk
