In the Backhand, D05 is faster, and easier to use.
>Easier to use means:
- When in a bad situation bad position or impossible ball the rubber will probably save you, you don't need a
super hard stroke to put the ball back in court like D09c for fast balls or impossible saves.
- Let you keep pressure over the opponent because of the faster rebound you can block/drive the ball back with quality(speed-spin) fast enough to put pressure back on the opponent. Ex. Harimoto blocks.
- Is more directional let you put the ball with more precision when working with fast balls.
- On the contrary D09c you control the ball better due to the better grip and hardness, short games are easier and help to put the ball little lower than D05 but in competition speed means pressure that wins more than control. Ex. Ovcharov use D05 instead of D09c that he used to use.
In the Forehand, The hardness of the sponge let you serve better, is better in the short game like service return, also the ball stays longer on the rubber which let you have better feel, longer dwell time and more spin. There are some players that can live without it and prefer speed over all that but usually do not have a diversity of services because D05 suck for services, they like the speed sacrifying all the rest. Ex , Harimoto D05 forehand, Kanah Jha D05 in the forehand with a Super ALC blade.
