What are some of the worst names of rubbers you've seen?

To me the Victas rubber have the worst names, like "V > 20 Double Extra" or "Triple Double Extra". These names are hard to remember, and hard to communicate to others that you might recommend them too. That really doesn't help them. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Victas rubbers, and use them myself (VS>401), but I just don't understand what the marketing department was thinking...

What are some of the worst names you've heard or seen?

Totally agree with You(haggsiv). I think Donic has the best, 3 (sometimes 4) where 1 is the hardest and 3 the softest. Sometimes big slam being softer Than 3 and turbo being harder than 1. Also their description on the homepage or catalogue makes perfect sense. Unfortunately none of them fits my FH. But I could use Accuda on BH.

Cheers

At last, someone said it! I was discussing the same thing with a co-player of mine.
Victas has by far the most idiotic onomatology of rubbers: It's hard to remember them and most of all, to distinguish their properties and differences.

rasanter is a bit goofy for a rubber lineup name although clever, i hope that the next flagship lineup andro comes up with is called rasantest
Its even goofier when you realize that the name is based off of the old Rasant rubber that was introduced pre-poly ball. I think it was like 2011 or 2012. Still Rasant, just Rasant-er 😂

it feels like they're trying to do what butterfly did with the numbers but they fail to understand why butterfly's nomenclature worked in the first place

05 for spin, 64 for speed, 80 for a balance in both speed and spin, 09c for chinese-style, and the less known 25 as a close-table specialist rubber

fx for softer sponges, harder versions are simply called hard, simple stuff

actually i am confused what 19 is for, it doesnt really seem fill a purpose like the other rubbers in the lineup

meanwhile we take a look at victas and........ i only remember the V>15 lineup (particularly extra only bc its a tenergy competitor)

and V>11 is just V>15 but lighter.... and...... huh???

what the hell does double extra mean, and why is it more extra than extra???

victas ventus regular alpha??

but then again butterfly's product line is *not* that bloated in comparison to other manufacturers except for nittaku or yasaka, if butterfly released 3-5 rubbers per year like the european companies it would get confusing real fast

Let's start with the symbol ">". It means absolutely nothing and adds only to confusion. What's its purpose, really?

In contrast, Butterfly has two basic lines: Tenergy and Dignics and all the "models" in each line have easily identifying properties and differences. Very smart, very simple.

Victas on the other hand, has no basic lines and is giving each rubber a different name.
So what the hell are we supposed understand by rubber names like "Victas Triple Extra" "Victas VO> 103" "Victas Double Extra" Victas VJ>07 Regular" etc ...
Victas is losing a great deal of sales because of this idiotic rubber onomatology.

Naming in TT is in general aweful. It’s easier to talk about good things than the bad things.
Good:
- 05 / 80 / 64 / 09c approach of butterfly. Sponge same (beside 09c) but different geometry which affects speed, spin and arc
- hardness values in product name, e.g. rasanter r 48 / 50 / 53. Easier to judge than using „fx“, normal and „pro“ as Tibhar does

Bad:
A lot of names…
- Dignics also known as di*kpics
- non-spellable like dynaryz, nuzn, etc
- confusing ones like double extra, extra, triple double extra, etc
- similarity invasion: bluegrip, bluestorm, bluefire, Acuda blue, bluestar, etc

Me Gozo is no brute Ork who only likes to smash things. Me Gozo went to University too. Me did one module on Business Marketing in University.

If Gozo makes rubber, me give easy to remember funky name. Players easy remember, no difikult name like Dynacircus or Dynasomeshit!

Gozo Noob ( 35' ), Gozo Not so Noob ( 37.5' ), Gozo Hobby Player (42.5' ), Gozo Awesome Hobby Player ( 45' ) and Gozo Pro ( 47.5' ). Anything else it will be custom made. Regular OB players can't handle anything above 47.5.

Then there will be Gozo Smash where pimples are large and short for your smashing needs.
Gozo Looper where the pimples are long and thin for looping to your heart content.
Then there is Gozo Far Table where the sponge are thicker and the top-sheet are thin.

Simple. Not Komplikated. You know what to buy by just the name.

Then me make nice matrix chart like Butterfly. Make nice ball flight path pretty pictures like Donic. Me hire beautiful people make Tik-Tok video explain all Gozo product in under one minute.

NB: All rubber will come in Lime Green offering. Promise! Cross my heart and hope to die!

Yasaka Elfrark

Nittaku Alhelg

But I agree the worst name for a popular rubber is Dignics. For being as expensive and high level equipment as it is, it deserves a less dumb sounding name.

I propose it be changed to Bigdics

The best is the tenergy (tension - energy) but I'm not sure which is the worst.

Also I really dislike lineup naming rather than individual names, like donic blue-xxx which serie is newer, which is faster.

My vote would be victas, probably I couldn't remember my rubber's name.
second worst could be Joola like Dynaryz ZGX wtf is that?

edit: although 05, 64 etc meaningless, can be remembered, even they bloated with releasing 25, 80, 19 etc
easy to translate into new generation.
