I was looking at the upcoming WTT calendar and noticed what looks like a brutal scheduling overlap between WTT Champions Yokohama 2026 and Europe Smash.
Yokohama is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, August 9th. Depending on how long the finals go, they'll likely wrap up around 10 PM Japan time. Meanwhile, the Round of 64 for Europe Smash kicks off the very next day, Monday, August 10th, 12 PM CET time.
Do you guys think this tight turnaround will result in top players skipping Europe Smash entirely to avoid burnout? Or is it more likely that WTT will strategically schedule the Yokohama finalists to play their R64 matches later in the week?
