Liang doesn't look sharp. I don't know why the commentators feel the need to hype things up rather than represent Liang's lack of sharpness with honesty.

The tournament format also didn't do Liang any favors. But I guess this is WTT excitement...

On to Odo-Hashimoto!

Satsuki was brilliant. I think she even learned from her close match with Hitomi and didn't give Honoka hardly any opportunities to attack.
This was always going to be a bad match up. Imagine having Hito play in the same T.League team as Odo they would have practice a lot with each other. Maybe if Honoka faced a non-Japanese player would have better odds at winning.

Impressed with XP. He's playing more like ML in rallies now. Rather than constantly aggressively looking for the pivot in a rally he's now patiently using spin and pace changes on the BH side to control the opponent and then opportunisticly pivot to finish the point when appropriate.

It's true that they were T-League teammates, but I do have to give Odo extra credit as Sakura Yokoi is also on Satsuki's T-League team and is not anywhere near as good as Satsuki against choppers. Winning 4-0 against Honoka is really amazing.

It's a competitive process. It's not just about one match or her results, the results of her teammates also matter. The match was ugly, but without knowing what the goals were and whether she was trying to implement something that didn't work, all we can do is watch the process. It's still over 2.5 years away.

Would be interesting to know who he would have played under the old and new formats and whether he has just played badly or has been unlucky with the draw. This year was clearly a bad draw.

Hugo does not play well against Felix. From 2024 Paris Olympics to now I would have thought he would have come up with some counter measures against Felix. Could also be he is getting use to his new blade as be no longer sponsored by Xiom so that could be more of a factor than just cause it’s Felix.
