DHS Hurricane 3 is an excellent rubber for beginners but also for top players.
It has much more variability in play than tensor rubber.
After playing topspin has an unpleasant ball bounce.
A high spin gives the ball a declining effect after bouncing.
Thanks to the soft upper leaf has excellent grip.
Not for nothing, this rubber is the most widely used among players in the world.
Many players ask different questions about DHS Hurricane 3,
they never get a substantial answer.
There must be determination and perseverance, then it will bear fruit.
For players with good game technique I definitely recommend using booster.

Pros
  • Super Spin
  • Great short game
  • Looping
Cons
  • Spin sensitivity
  • Slow unboosted
A very tacky, spinny, hard Chinese rubber that can be used by beginners all the way to the professional level. Not that heavy. The tacky rubber along with aggressive brush strokes can produce unmatched spin on loops. It's lack of catapult or bounciness also makes it great for serving and pushes. However it's extreme grip can also make serve returns more challenging if you misread the spin as it is very spin sensitive. Unboosted it's a great rubber to learn to loop with along with a flexible all wood blade. Boosted with Haifu Seamoon (my recommendation) it becomes a powerful mid distance looping tool to compete with Tenergy 05 at the advanced and Pro levels. If you want to try a Chinese rubber to compare against the Euro/Jap tensors try this one. I'd recommend for use on the FH side with a softer and faster Euro rubber on the BH.

I went into this test with low expectations because how good can a $17 rubber be, right? Well, it turns out, pretty darn good! First off, I was blown away how light the rubber is, weighing only 43 gram when cut to my 157x150 mm test blade. The response on FH drives is surprisingly non-metallic for an unboosted Chinese rubber. FH loops felt far less “Chinese” than I expected. Sure, the throw angle is medium at best and loops are best played with considerable wrist action and a big swing. However, engagement of the wrist also results in a unique arc, in which the ball dips shortly behind the net, resulting in a distracting kick off the bounce. The rubber’s slow speed and the lack of a catapult effect gave me a lot of confidence to precisely ‘titrate’ the amount of power that I wanted to put into shots. Read our full review on this link.

I tried this rubber, when looking for replacement of Tackiness Chop 2, but only available in 2.15 mm.

I have it shaved to 2.0 mm, and voila,

I can chop any ball with it, and the return flat but spinny. :)

One problem though, the launch very low for spinny rubber.
I expect 60 deg closed face to keep the ball low at looping, here I only need 25 deg :)

Pros
  • Good for looping
  • Affordable
  • Consistent
Cons
  • Average control
  • Relatively heavy
I have this for both BH and FH.

Throw angle is average but looping is incredibly easy with this rubber, especially if you have no trouble bending your knees.
It's fast enough if your game doesn't depend entirely on speed but also on placement of the balls.
I put 7/10 for control because controlling with a tacky topsheet requires more touch and attention to the spin of the ball.
I can also defend and retrieve balls amazingly with this, as well as do BH counter attacks away from the table with a lot of confidence.

Overall, it's a great affordable and safe choice for a rubber, that can do amazing things with the proper technique.

At the beginning I wanted to see why are all the chinese national team is playing with that rubber. I was very disappointed. It was so slow and I couldn't finish the point with power. Then I was like how are the chinese nationals so powerful with it. Whatsoever I boosted it... still only spin and no speed so I removed it and after a month or two I saw on the internet that the national version of the rubber is nothing like the commercial and I bought it. Was kinda good but it still lacked speed. Therefore I decided to boost it. And guess what after all this long term searching for the perfect rubber I was satisfied with the result. It was fast and spiny. So the conclusion is don't buy the commercial version, buy the national and boost it. Then you will find the thing you were searching for so long.

This is an excellent rubber to use for a beginner. One of the best feeling rubbers around. In addition to that, it is deceptively spinny when it comes to those slow spins. The only drawback is speed perhaps, if you're focusing on an offensive game. However, I believe using a off++ blade can counter that deficiency although will probably mean sacrificing on the spin. Regardless, it is much cheaper than alternatives and one of the best value rubbers I've ever used.

This rubber has very good spin, has fairly good control, but isn't very fast. If this rubber was slightly faster I would probably like it a lot more than what I do now.

After giving a 'small break' like 15 years in table tennis, I was used to Sriver and Tackiness mostly in 1998. I've just noticed that DHS Hurricane 3 Nat and Nat Blue was for me to continue for progressing. This rubber helped me a lot for improving my drills, how to shoot, spin, block, serve, positioning with foot etc. Definetly for players who love to play in close range. You really need to train yourself as you've to use your whole body for spinning like Chinese players but this is the way how you learn to play.

So, as a result, this rubber is a monster when you boost it. You always need to be ready for every position in means of foot, body, position. You really need very good footwork to handle this. If you do the necesities, then this rubber is the ONE.

Only handicap is you lose control away from the table.

Pros
  • Super Speed!

Cons
  • Needs speed glue
This rubber is fantastic for a reason! Its the most popular rubber in China! it has excellent spin and speed. I used it during the speed glue era. My only issue now is that without boost or speed glue the rubber does not have the same speed. It requires boosting. I have yet to try the Hurricane 3 NEO which is pre glued, which I am sure is very good.

Hurricane 3 = Amazing
