It will be the men’s World ranking list which the International Table Tennis Federation posted on the 1st of May which will determine the seeding for the upcoming World Table Tennis Championships in Paris later this month. So far it is seen that Xu Xin and Ma Long will change places along with Wang Hao and Zhang Jike, Wang Hao will occupy the number three spot whilst Zhang Jike will be at number four.

The remaining top seeded players will stay the same including Germany’s Timo Boll who will stay at number five followed by Chinese Taipei’s Chung Chih-Yuan, teammate Dimitrij Ovtcharov and the Chinese duo of Ma Lin and Wang Liqin. Japans Jun Mizutani completes the top ten names followed by Vladimir Samsanov who will take the number eleven spot, and Chinas Hao Shuai who will take the number twelve spot.

It is seen that seven of the top twelve players are all from China and it is likely that they will soon be joined by yet another Chinese player 20 year old Yan An who currently moves up from number 22 to number 14 in the Men’s world rankings which is so far the highest ranking of his career with his previous best being in March when he was ranked at 21.

It will be interesting to see whether the new rankings will have any effect at the forthcoming World Championships, it will also be interesting to see if young Yan An can cause an upset with his recent good form in the Korean Air Korean Open where he was able to beat London 2012 Olympic champion Zhang Jike.
