Dots on my blade

i removed my old rubbers to use a new rubber and noticed these dark dots on my blade. Does anyone who what these are? i'm kind of afraid if the blade is in a bad condition

Im no expert at this. Was the glue dry when you put the rubbers on? It looks like mold to me.

If the conditions are adequate for their growth, they'll soften and eventually eat up the wood...

A little bit of bleach will kill the mold permanently and won't hurt the wood. You might want to check your house or apartment near wherever you store the blade to make sure you don't have mold there. You do not want to be breathing mold spores. Very bad for your health.

Is that on both sides or just on one side?

I saw the same problem with my mates who do not seal their blades. My place being tropical and very humid, these things happen. Once I sealed all my blades I never had issues like this.

i sweat a lot usually it drips down to the blade also maybe its the cause. what did your mate do to his blade by the way how can you seal the blades?

If it is on one side, you sort of need to check if it is on the other side. Even if you glue the same rubber back on, you need to check if there is something growing on the other side too.

And, over time that will cause your blade to deteriorate and play slower and softer. So, yes, something that grows on the wood of your blade, like mold, will ultimately affect things.

After you use bleach to remove and kill the mold, you should seal it.
