Whats up guys? ok so i received the Dhs long 5 today and i have a couple of options but both with H3 provincial on fh, but not sure which on bh ,so i glued a t05 2.1 just to try it out, but i do have an evolution el-p or fx-p both 1.8 to try out as well ,so my question is, is the t05 to much for bh? i usually play close to mid way from the table if this helps ,thanks guys

Hey Lucas, congrats on getting the new HL5 blade. Regarding the T05 on your BH, how long have you played with it? I know when I tried to Rakza 7 on it initially I had to do some slight calibers because the blade was a bit fast. This took like 1-2 hours.

If you're going to change to 05-Fx, the arc will be lower, but it's a lot higher compared to lots of other rubbers. I suggest you try the t05 for a bit longer because it just might take time for the rubber to soak into the blade. I've read on the Chinese forums that the New HL5 is closer in playing characteristics to the W968 while the old HL5 is closer to the W997. I don't know how true these statements are, but if that's the case you should be able to play with t05 on the BH since lots of players on the Chinese national team use the t05 on their BH with the HL5-like blade. (Note: others say there's not much of a difference between the old and the new). On a side note, one person on the forum said that their BH was more stable with the 05-Fx than the 05. And that blades like the viscaria (which is an ALC blade) had more stability when using t05. Again, I think it's just a matter of experimenting. I was planning to try t05, Rakza X, and andro grip on my BH to see what it would feel like. When I do, I'll definitely post my comments on it.

If i may... I've used a 1.7 T05 a while ago myself.
It's mostly a matter of the rubber's sponge bottoming out.
The 1.7 isn't that much slower on slow shots, but the thinner sponge which is a little easier to control on rather passive shots, bottoms out easier on harder shots, and doesn't let one generate as much power on active shots like loop or counterloops as a thicker sponge would do.
But on the other hand many people don't loop as hard with their BH than they do with FH (except maybe the crazyamateurplayer named Marc Schinkel).

thanks Stanny but i keep going back to the thickness question ,how big a difference does it do in any thickness? i do have a 1.7 t05 coming just in case ,

This is just my opinion but, I feel like, if you are going to be Tenergy, it should be 2.1 or at thinnest, 1.9. Spending all that money on Tenergy to get 1.7 seems like you may as well just get a less expensive rubber that has more control.

Perhaps there are other people who have a different experience. But I feel like, what Tenergy does so well has so much to do with the sponge. And with 1.7 you lose a lot of that. If you want more control, may as well go for a rubber that you can get for half the price if you know where to buy: something like EL-S might be a great idea.

You're very welcome, Lucas. Glad i could help a little. I think you're right, 1.9 should solve this.

But carl isn't far from right, too.

T05 begins to shine
at thickness one point nine.
So one point nine
and everything shall be fine.

Ok guys the truth is out,i went to the club today and the 2.1 didn't work i kept hitting the ball out of the table but not for much ,i had to modify my bh stroke in order to get them to hit the table consistently,so 1.9 it is,i have an fx-p and an el-s ,but im curious about how the T05 would feel ,but thanks Carl it is true

I use the HL-5 with H3 on the f/h and Ten.05 on b/h on 2 of my HL-5's and H3 f/h and Rakza 7 on b/h on another blade. Ten.05 is a very high thro rubber, I say stick with it for awhile and you will adjust, just give it time. When you over shoot the table keep closing the blade untill it starts hitting the table.
