Very well done by Hayata, her backhand seems very strong. Maybe she finally made the next step in her development. With the way she has been playing recently JNT probably cannot not give her the last spot for the WTTC, especially now that he has proven to have the potential to beat top chinese players.

Too bad for Shibata, i wanted her to win, and she fought well as usual but it wasn't enough.
Hashimoto fought well again ! I think she's better than Sato, her attacks, (especially BH) are more powerful. Sato's defense is excellent but she's not winning enough points when attacking.

Shibata has been working really hard the last 2 years to reach where she is now. She will turn 22 this year. This could be the break-it year for her.

You don't only play Chinese players at the WTTC. Sato does well against just about everyone other than the Chiness and she also puts pressure on the Chinese at specific times. It is sometimes short sighted to make it all about one tournament. The coaches also see these players more frequently. There might be things they are looking for but have seen in the past from Hayata and Shibata.

Baba has explained the choice of Sato over Shibata and Ando - World Ranking. I didn't quote it the last time but Baba actually mentioned they wanted the chosen members to "beat as many CNT players as possible."
