Great trick serve. The competition version would have a lower trajectory so the ball would kick back into the net. Probably still too risky even for a pro.

Here is a Patrick Franziska ghost serve probably using a 40mm celluloid ball based on the date of the video. The other serve is a shorter version of this using a 40+ abs plastic ball.

Don't think it's touching the net. But the margin of error for this serve is so slim that I don't think you can consistently execute it in real games.

We had this discussion on a Swedish forum on Facebook, I'm positive the ball touches the net.
If you look closely you can see that it touches the net

The ball contacted the net, hence the speed of the ball decreased by a ton; but the spin stayed the same

The net contact can affect ball spin as everyone has experienced. Larry Hodges at his latest blog says he has done that before.

Great serve, but how many tries did it take ?

I think it took only one try, because Patrick Franziska did not try to make a trick serve at all. Maybe he made it by accident while training :D . Did I see a hint of a smile after the serve LOL ?

Obviously, you never took logic as a college course.
