If you were to choose one of the following possibilities to play with, which one would it be?

Would you rather...

1. play with a good blade and bad rubbers?
2. play with a bad blade with good rubbers?

As for the meaning of good and bad blades, let's assume that good blades are fast and controllable, bad ones are the opposite. As for the rubbers, the good rubbers are spinny and controllable, bad ones are the opposite.

I'm curious which one would you pick...

I think good blade meaning fast and controllable doesn't make sense.

So what is a bad blade, slow and uncontrollable or?

I only what you to know what to think of. Of course, it is up to you what is considered as a good blade. A good blade might be fast and easy to control the ball with, no?

In my experience, rubber is way more important.

Imagine a hotel blade with dignics on both sides. This will largely be playable.

Conversely, a viscaria blade with those hotel plastic rubbers will not be playable.

If You ask me I would say that the blade is more important than the rubber.
(But the rubber is still important).

I think blade is more important too, but the rubber is what makes contact with the ball, in extreme cases a better rubber would make more sense. It's like for a car to go fast, the most important thing is the engine, but you must have good tires to put that power onto the ground, which is why when modding a car to go fast, the first choice should always be wheels and tires.

normally fast and control is not on the same side of the scale, it is on the opposite side.
it is either fast and little control
or slow and great control

If you definition is not the same as mine, then what I give may not be related to your question.

But in this context, if we talking about a piece of cheap hobby blade as bad
and any pro blade as good

and the same for rubbers- cheap 1 star hobby rubber as bad
and any pro rubber as good.

I would go with bad hobby blade with good pro rubbers.

Yes I agree this is the answer. If you're switching from MXP to Dignics or Viscaria to HL5, then blade will make the bigger difference.

But as I mentioned with the hotel-level equipment, then the rubber will make the bigger difference.

Its all based on OP's definition of good/bad, which I have to say, is not defined clearly.

I went the full route of 1 star cheap hobby bat vs pro equipment as good/bad
That is a proper good bad relationship that can't be denied by any one.

I usually take this as lets do a fixed to a budget, really what happens here is dependent on if you accept chinese rubbers or not, if not the rubber is MUCH more important at below 20USD per side and then at 30 the only really acceptable rubbers start playing in, Derwhind for tensor. But still at 60usd total you can buy a Yinhe Pro-01 or a Yinhe V14 PRO or a Real clipper. and going from the Pro-01 to the viscaria is probably less of a jump than Derwind Rayhe to D09c or T05.
So for my purposes at until we get to more than 50USD per side it will be the rubber in all occasions, once you can afford things such as Fastarc G1 then it becomes a meaningful comparison

If you accept chinese rubber FH then you only need to make it to around 70usd (35 per side) for the "bad" thing as you can get decent FH rubber for 20-25usd and for 45-50usd a decent tensor backhand.
