Stiga Platinum rubbers vs. other ESN rubbers?

I think you should give these series a chance. The harder versions (especially XH) are pretty good at flat hitting, having an advantage over other ESN rubbers in this respect. As for getting used to spin, it is just a matter of practice.

fair enough comment, but then also very good for flat-hitting is a $5 short pimple rubber
glued on to a shoe. 😂

Makes sense to me, the only difference is that it would not be an ITTF approved combination.

I would definitely pay the $14.95 difference.
Paying more psychologically feels better, the design of the DNA Platinum series alone is also charming.
I am serious by the way, you will experience something brand new.
I dare say just do not mind the price you pay, just focus on what you can do with it as you play with the rubber, explore its nature.
Maybe I am crazy but when I play with Stiga equipment, It seems to me I am breathing fresh grass and hearing lawn mowers and I feel the super depressed tranquility of northern countries.

Sweet talk aside, the extra hard rubber (platinum XH) is not forgiving at all.
It may take long time before you constantly hit anywhere in the table.
But it is a rubber requires you to take appropriate risks, demands you to be very aggressive and catch every opportunity during the game.
It is also rather fast and punishing for your opponent, once you learn to use that weapon, you will truly digest the relatively high price tag.
They are expensive because they are serious.

As for comparison, I don't think there are many rubbers similar to them.
Platinum rubbers at first feel dry and dull unlike any other, but it is up to your skill to unleash the inner beast in them.

That was kinda brutal lol.
I am the one who may show up with that though, trying it in my local club. Let you know when I get familiar with the special technique of our new peculiar combination.

well back to OP

Material cost is sky rocketing.
Before TT brands would have a pricelist once a year, some times the price is the same for 2 or 3 years.
For about the past 2 years, they are updating prices like every 6 months.

Butterfly price increase is obviously, a bit special.
But for the rest, who does use the same factory, sooner or later, I think the price will follow in the lines of Stiga Platinum.
Sad.... and I hope it won't happen.

All I can say is, enjoy it while it is now.
It aint getting any cheaper, that is for sure
