Issues I had with G1 (had it on BH but this also applies for FH): requires sponge i.e. relying on the topsheet alone as one can with H3 does not work, and it behaved not very predictable with low inputs i.e. short game, flicks (a bit different angle or slightly too much/less input and the outcome was not really predictable). Durability same as other ESN rubbers: around 60 hours with boosting after the factory boost/bounciness was gone.

What I would try before going ESN or Butterfly:
1. H3 with lower sponge hardness and/or more booster (layers). OS instead of BS.
2. Battle 3 (one degree less than H3), Battle 3 Purple, Loki Arthur China or Loki Rxton 9
3. Loki Rxton 7 (easy to use sort of hybrid rubber)
4. Battle 2 if the lower trajectory/throw is Ok
yes g1 needs more sponge activation, but not very predictable for flicks? for me the hard topsheet of g1 makes it very reliable and one of the best rubbers for flicks. but I can see that flicking can be easier with rubbers that have more accessible topsheet grip, like glayzer, dignics, etc. you cannot go for thin contact with g1

durability same as other esn rubbers? no way
idk how many esn rubbers I had, but they get white spots after a few sessions (maybe 10h) in the main hitting area already. my fastarc sheets have been on my harimoto salc for months and the topsheet still looks pristine
