To improve spectator experience, new TT balls should be like this:

Easier to enforce minor infringements that do not result in a direct loss of a point, which would likely ensure higher umpire engagement.

Hopefully they are then more confident to intervene in more major decisions regarding illegal serves.

Rule 1:
The server dictates the pace of play. Receiver cannot delay.

Enforceable penalty:
If receiver delays, they lose their next 2 services that would otherwise start the point. I.e the server being impeded has 2 extra serves before change over. This also mucks up strategy as the sequence changes for the end game.

This would be interesting if a player has an advantage in serve return and they purposefully forego their service. So maybe a repeated delay of game would have to mean a direct loss of point.

Logistically this also speeds up play which would help tournament organisers keep to schedule.

Rule 2:
Suspect serve

Enforceable penalty:
Immediate change over. As the suspect server is now the receiver they can potentially lose their next 2 serves by complaining or delaying the game further.

Again this changes strategy though to even greater extent without a direct loss of point for the set.

It also mentally impedes the suspect server as they need to focus on serve return - would the player/coach be forced to use timeout?

If you cannot shout "cho!!!!!!" looking at your opponent with an angry face and making a fist because this could offend him....
Why did ITTF think it was perfectly fine to turn around and do this looking at the spectator watching your match?
It's stupid.

Also complaining while looking at the spectator should not be allowed.
Engage with your opponent.... you are playing your opponent, not the crowd.
Otherwise it looks like you are making a show for the camera and couldn't care less about your opponent....like an actor.

now they even put this huge cardboard on one side, on the other side the coach and behind the coach the camera.
So they can say "oh I'm shouting to my coach".

If you have ever played teams.
Turning towards your corner to fist pump if very normal.
Especially with the atmosphere during teams.

In individuals, it is now very common to engage your coach after every point, for various reasons - communication is all part of it

I think it depends.
If you are celebrating it's normal to look at your coach and teammates.
But when these players cho I'm not sure if they are celebrating or trying to look menacing and dangerous (closed fist, anger face).
It's confusing.

Yes I've seen that and it seems like a repressed homosexuality kind of thing to me.
Look at wild animals when they fight.
Do they turn back and make sounds and angry faces to their friends?
Nope.
They make this to their enemies in front of them.
How long have you been a teenager for?

Do you really think someone you're playing table tennis with is your mortal enemy where you need to scream in their face and intimidate them? For what purpose?

If you think homosexuality has anything to do with the current status of celebrations in table tennis, that's entirely what you're bringing to the table. Maybe a man making an angry O face at you is awakening something inside of you to make you feel so uncomfortable? Seems like the most plausible explanation.

Rule 6.6.6
"If a player is going to scream after winning a point he must do so looking at his opponent"

I'm tired of watching matches on YouTube and having players turn around and shout looking at me.
You are not playing against me bro, look at your opponent....

I always thought they were showing off their dental plan.

Dude ... I dont even know where to start. That is such a weird thing to write. They are turning around to get some "hell yeah" back from their team/coach, I mean most players just do the whole fist "hell yeah" the scream is optional, but I mean wtf is your logic.

Obviously we have a clueless couch potato who has never played some amateur table tennis to a serious level and judging actions of a player hyped up and in that competitive zone.

If you are too “against the opponent”, you could be carded
Kids are taught to turn around to avoid cards and this is from many continents….
So to keep the integrating of the thread, then please do some homework

So even ITTF admits this gesture and scream is somewhat annoying.....so they suggest not to do it while looking at your opponent.
Yet you can do It looking at spectators or your own coach.
Lacks logic to me.

Imagine I am in a small venue watching Borussia Dusseldorf and each time the player turns around and screams at me from 3 meters away.
It would also bother me the same way it bothers his opponent and why it is prohibited.
Watching a video is a similar situation since cameras are pretty close.

You need to play the sport
Else you can never understand it

If it is your home town crowd, some could even be louder than you.
It would help to leave your home and visit the world and see real live matches

Ps ittf didnt say it is not allowed
But umpires would become sensitive and issue cards
It is two different things, but you will never understand it in your couch

I have played professional table tennis, but I never saw the logic of screaming to my coach and showing him a fist after every point I win.
So I never did it.

Not sure how that's how online discussions work. In any case we all post a random thought we wish we hadn't every now and then. If youre saying now that you don't believe that now then everyone will accept it and it's no big deal.

As a young person, it's a good idea to use the internet to anonymously gauge people's reactions to our inner monologue. It's way better than maybe causing an uncomfortable scene in person amongst polite company.
