I have watched this video previously quite some time ago (before the video was posted here in another topic) but I was quite lazy to bring this up. I know that ZJK created controversy by saying outer-composite blades last longer. But what intrigues me is that his statement about boosting. By his comments, he is acknowledging that boosting is common and is required for Chinese rubbers. But we all know that it is against the rule. And if I recall correctly, an European player (or a Japanese player?) publicly complained that all other players are boosting and thus compete with advantage (not on equal ground).

So, I am thinking, if it's already a common practice among players, should ITTF just allow boosting, as long as the substance used is not hazardous to health? I remember the premise of banning speed glue is because of the hazardous chemicals. What if we can create a safe substance (for health and environment) that can boost rubbers nicely and all players can use it freely?

Check the video here (same video in the other topic, but cut to the segment discussing boosting):

Another nice topic that he discussed is changing equipment. As we progress, we change equipment. More frequent initially but less frequent as we are at higher level. I remember Schlager advised high end blade and rubbers for beginners, so that players do not have to change / adjust anymore. So, 2 professional players with different opinions. But I agree more with ZJK based on my experience. But this is another topic that needs separate posting.

As I said previously ITTF allows factories to boost their rubbers but players cannot boost their rubbers themselves completely makes no sense at all.

I’m all in favour of allowing players to boost their rubbers themselves as long as it VOC Free or within the current VOC limit. If ITTF are going to allow factories to boost their rubbers then players should be allowed to boost their rubbers themselves.

When the rule changes I don’t know when but the current elected ITTF officials/board members obviously don’t want to change the rules as it not a priority for them.
