Sora played a good match against Qiu Dang. i hope he can confirm against Cho next
he's making the scenario where Japan activates his P-card in the team event more and more plausible. Although all his recent match (except for the lost against Cho DS) were uphill battles, he's proving his tenacity when being pushed to the corner. He has a clear intention when serving, he knows when to change up the landing points and length of the serve, this is something I find Togami, Shinozuka doesn't possess

it would be a good idea indeed for Togami or Shinozuka to catch Covid

Sora kicked out by Cho. it was pretty one-sided

(an seemingly injured) Hirano is on the verge on losing to Pavade...
Yeah, but the injuries are a part of the sport and are not going anywhere. Pavade played well. Beating Ito and Hirano. Maybe we need to sub Miwa in for Hirano for Olympics (Hirano will never take it of course)? Who is the reserve for Japan?

Shin Yubin a.k.a. The Golden Child or Chosen One reminds me a lot of Ishikawa. Right-hand, sure, but the same kind of incredibly stable all round game with tremendous spin and consistency and some tricks that the lower level players need to get through to even enter the conversation.

Shin vs Pavade will be interesting for sure. I think with Miwa vs Hayata, the real problem Miwa has is the absence of a coach for this level of match and opponent. If both Hayata and Miwa were allowed coaches, it would be to Miwa's advantage I suspect. I think this kind of thing also plagued Fan Zhendong in his tour matches against Ma Long.

I like to think people lose to Pavade because she ayos them to death. Unfortunately she is just good.
Pavade won the U2!1 European title as a 15 and 16 year old if memory serves me right and she beat all thr Romanian girls who were much older pretty convincingly (Diaconu, Dragoman). I remember a few years ago, I was discussing with people what her ceiling was. But she just couldn't handle Asian speed in the early days because her off the bounce play and her backhand were pretty bad. I am happy for her she has been able to fix it (or at least make it better), these things are never easy. As for all the verbal tics, well, until ITTF takes action, we just have to adjust somehow...
