After I heard of the shortage of Kiso hinoki I decided to stash up on blades. I gave 3 main criteria’s
- Hinoki outer
- Spruce outer
- Donic since my club is sponsored by them.

I don’t particularly like blades with a name attach to it, because I imagine it’s designed for somebody else. The only blade with names attached I own are Donic Appelgren WC 89, beautiful outer not to fast, Waldner gold edition (haven’t tested it yet) and primo carbon which was given to me.
All my other blades are without names attached.

So this week TT11 had the Donic true carbon inner on sale so I decided to get it.

It’s really a beautiful off- blade, 91grams 5.6mm with a little flex to it. I think I am really going to like this one.

Cheers

I have a gold edition Waldner - it is a lovely blade and very similar to my Franziska. I love mine.

They use spruce instead of Hinoki.

yeah but they have some hinoki outers as well.Ithe Banda Blades used Spruce,i have the Waldner 2016 cause i lost my old one.
But Hinoki is a tad more softer and with a larger catapulty dwell and realease,i think the Spruce is more direct and haerder, but just my opinion.
Will also depend on thickness of the outer ply and in relation to the composition, but they might be similiar in some aspects but the feeling is different as you know.
is the Hinoki from Donic Kiso?

Lazer, could you please give a comparison of Donic true carbon inner and Appelgren WC 89?
Can’t do this, The true carbon inner is still naked, but I expect to be faster and more difficult to play. It’s way back in the line of blades to test…

Lazer, have you had time to try it out yet?
I dressed it and bounced a little bit. I doesn't feel super fast to me. Maybe a tiny bit faster than my Nittaku S-CZ.
But thats not certain. I was planning to put grip tape on it to increase the handle size, but then I found another blade with a large handle. This will be my bat for next season.

However I have dressed the True inner carbon and if I remember I will take it to my training session on Tuesday and hit with it a little bit.

Hi Banda did not use spruce rather pine from the north which is much more elastic and stronger than spruce. Woodhouse that produced/produce many blades for both donic and yasaka use pine instead of spruce. That is why dicon and waldner offensive and also ma lin extra offensive have their offensive and excellent looping features

Out of pure curiosity, what bat might that be? Another Donic?
No a Nittaku Ma long 7 LG. But don’t worry I am bringing both to tonight’s training. I will report back to you around midnight. I will compare it to Nittaku S-CZ which is very similar to Donic Appelgren WC 89.

Lazer, could you please give a comparison of Donic true carbon inner and Appelgren WC 89?
Here goes Not a comparison to Appelgren WC 89, bit to a very similar blade Nittaku S-CZ…

Same rubber on both sides, the difference being that on the true carbon inner they brand spanking new where on the S-CZ theybare old, but I remember them when they were new.

- Feel The S-SZ feels softer flexier like it’s holding the ball longer. The true carbon inner feels harder, stiffer and more distinct but not outrageously, still easy to lift underspin. I like the feel of the S-CZ more and that is important to me. But after playing some time with a racket I kind of forget about this so it’s a matter of getting used to suppose

- Gears. The true carbon inner has more.
- Low gear, They are very similar I didn’t notice any difference at all.
- Medium gear. Here the true carbon inner was yielding a slightly lower trajectory (could be because the rubber tackiness is still at its peak) so my blocks stated out long or in the net when I over adjusted.
- High gears, Here the true carbon inner is significantly faster, it’s much easier to hit fast vast balls from far away even though the rubbers are still new.

- Slow spin S-CZ > true carbon inner
- Medium son S-CZ ~ true carbon inner
- Power spin S-CZ < true carbon inner

Bottom line, I can confidently say that The True carbon inner is a slightly more offensive blade than S-CZ.
