Donic Xtreme blade - Anyone tried it yet?

Dear all. Has anyone tried the Donic Xtreme blade yet? I am very interested and was almost about to order one from tabletennis11 but thought of waiting till I see any review. At the time of this writing I cannot find a single review anywhere (at least in English search results).

The following information is from Donic's website:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Product information "DONIC Xtreme"
Here comes a real innovation! The DONIC XTREME is produced with a completely new type of carbon fibre with fantastic features: The so-called STC (Spread Tow Carbon) ensures outstanding stiffness and increased stability - and at the same time a significantly lighter weight.
The new kind of carbon fibre on which this technology is based has already being used with great success in other sports, such as cycling, sailing and skiing. The blade developers at DONIC have been inspired by this experience: The DONIC XTREME provides fantastic ball feedback and a unique touch when hitting the ball.
The label "Made in Germany" already indicates first-class quality and thanks to the new carbon fibre, the manufacturing of high-quality blades has reached a new level with the DONIC XTREME.
Attack with everything modern technology has to offer!

I found one review of this blade:

The keys points from the review:
1. The speed is medium, the ability to hold the ball is good, the energy storage time is long enough, and it can easily bring out high spin and arc so it can smoothly play the technical points required for the arc ball;
2. The overall feel has a certain vibration feeling enough to stabilize the control
3. According to the power situation, there is a more delicate response to the ball, which can definitely be positioned as a professional competitive racket. Therefore, if you do not have certain basic skills, it is recommended not to use too thick or too hard when mixing rubber sponge.

Thank you very much. Appreciate it

I bought this blade a few days after posting my question that started this thread. The piece I got weighed 88 gms. I put DHS Hurricane 3 Provincial Orange Sponge with 3 layers of Haifu Seamoon booster on the forehand and Tibhar MXP 50 on the backhand of the Donic Xtreme and what materialized was a shockingly amazing weapon.

I am an EJ. I have over 120 blades including the top Butterfly, DHS, Nittaku, Stiga blades and many others from Xiom, Yasaka, Donic, Joola etc.

The Donic Xtreme turned out to be possibly the best blade of them all. Absolutely amazing control and feeling and great power for mid to long distance play. This blade has caused my win percentage to be close to 100% in my club (I hardly ever lose with this blade). For reference, I'm USATT 2000.

I can play a deft short game when I want to and an explosive and relentless attacking game at the same time with an unprecedented control.

The closest that anything comes to this blade in terms of that 'cant miss' feeling are the Viscaria and DHS 301T.

When power looping and counter looping, this gives amazing control and power at the same time due to a ball grabbing feeling like the Butterfly ALC blades but much better.

I can place the ball anywhere on the table and even seemingly on the white lines on the extreme sides with consistency! The ball kicks and shoots off the table very fast after landing. The attacking balls have great quality (power (or spin and speed)). If it's a 'winner to stay' format being played at the club on a day and I'm playing with this blade, then I end up playing continuously till I voluntarily concede the table.

Short game, open ups, 3rd ball attack, 5th ball attack, power looping, counter looping, smashes - everything is great with this blade.

Back hand is fantastic. Very consistent - almost infallible. The shots are very stable, accurate, safe and fast.

The forehand is very good and stable (though the FH is slightly better in DHS blades like HL5). The loops are fast with a lot of spin causing very fast shoot-offs from the table after bouncing.

The thing that stands out for this blade is the combination of amazing control and feeling and speed.

This has become my tournament blade surpassing the others that I have that I would consider for tournaments - viz. Timo Boll ALC, Lin Gaoyuan ALC, Nittaku Barwell Fleet, Viscaria Super ALC, Fan Zhendong ALC etc

As pure spin machines, the DHS and Viscaria like blades may be slightly better, but the Donic Xtreme blows them out of the water in terms of control, feeling, consistency and overall effectiveness for a reliable and stable winning game.

The handle is narrow like DHS handles and that suits me wonderfully. The only small undesirable thing with this blade (for me) is that the handle is very long. This may be uncomfortable to some. I would have loved if the handle was a bit shorter than what it is.

The Donic Xtreme has been the best blind purchase and for that matter, the best purchase - period - in Table Tennis for me.

Thanks for the update. I always wondered about this one. You could tell it got kind of written off because it was a Donic.

WHAT… Donic blades are great.
I think it’s about the name. At a first glance I come to think about a rocket…

Yea but if ur in Asia and u don't like ur Donic, u can't sell it like it's a b'fly lol

Their loss…

My favorite is the WC89 series (made by soulspin Germany) and J-O gold edition (made in Korea). All excellent. Soulspin makes blades with Italian spruce as a top layer. The result is a softish surface with less catapult than Hinoki. Excellent for topspin play…

Cheers

Yes - almost all my Donic blades are surprisingly good. As for this one, even I was slightly skeptical due to the name - Xtreme (which evoked images of the 1st generation Tamca Carbon blades of Butterfly which I do not like at all as they were just fast without any feeling). However, three things encouraged me to try this blade even without any user feedback or non-marketing information about it on the internet when I was considering buying it:

1. The description of the blade on Donic's official website - specifically these lines (even though this IS marketing info)-
The DONIC XTREME provides fantastic ball feedback and a unique touch when hitting the ball.
Character: Fast, powerful, extremely sensitive touch
Recommendation: For offensive players who expect good dynamic and sensitive ball feedback when hitting the ball

2. It was an inner fiber blade. I like inner carbon/fiber blades for their feeling and control

3. It had 4 layers of Limba. The wood of my choice and that suits my looping game the best

Yes - I have the WC89 and the very similar Nittaku S-CZ (both made by Soulspin) which is one of my favorite blades for its feel in topspin play.

Ha , I got a S-CZ and an Appelgren WC 89 also, both great blades. For sure soulspin makes great blades. These days I look for Hinoki or spruce top…

how is it comparing to Donic True Carbon?
Incidentally, I did not have the Donic True Carbon earlier. I had been eyeing it for a long time and I ordered it a few days ago and it's on the way.

One of the best blades in the world.Just have a try.
Are you referring to the Donic Original True Carbon blade? If so, then you made me happy and also heightened my anticipation for the blade. It is good to know that I possibly did not make a bad decision in ordering the Donic Original True Carbon even after already owning several Viscaria family Butterfly blades 🙂

I am also eyeing the Donic No.1 Senso which is possibly their best blade that is known (I say 'known', as the Donic Xtreme is not well known and the Xtreme is the best Donic blade that I have played with - I can compare the No.1 senso to the Xtreme only if I buy and use the No. 1 Senso at any time)

Do you have video of you playing with this blade so we can get an idea of how fast it is, and the kind of arc it creates? I only ask because there’s like ZERO footage of it being played, and it sounds like an updated successor to the Acoustic Carbon Inner since it basically has the same composition, but with a stronger composite limba-limba-carbon-kiri.
