The holy grail of equipment that almost instantly makes the vast majority of players better, stronger, faster, is hiding in plain sight.

Who kidnapped Gozo and is now writing on his account?!

We want our old Gozo back😔
What do you mean? It is still a Butterfly rubber ok?

NB:
  • Its NL, Car, Der et al's fault really, truth be told.
  • Gozo, you need to use softer / slower rubber, they say.
  • Gozo, your current high tension, high speed rubber is too fast for you, they say.
  • OK I say, but I'm still gunna use Butterfly rubber. You can't make me do otherwise! I say!

Non-tension, soft sponge is noob's fren indeed.
I am a big proponent that newer players should play with slower equipment. I don't know why noobies are being set up with Viscaria and Tenergy 05 fx on the forehand and Tenergy 64 fx on the backhand...that is a disaster to happen.

You did a forehand loop drive in the video! It looks really really good! :)

Forehand loop drive? There is a name / label for that?
In my mind, I only know one type of stroke: HULK SMASH(tm)

NB: I did put my body weight into it and there is some whipping motion as well.

That's "old school", up tp 2022. From 2023 until now, its W968 with H3N BS Nat 41 & H3N OS Nat 37, 6 layers of boost total. :p :p :p

  • The previous place I attended coaching was Butterfly sponsored. So all kids are Viscaria / Innerforce pair with Rozena / Tenergy / Dignics.
  • The current place I am attending coaching is Donic sponsored. So now, I see Senso / Walner paired with M1 / M2 .
  • Yup U13 kids are using Senso Carbon with M1 / M2 combo.
  • But who am I too advise otherwise, since they are under coach anyway.
  • I bet at @Tony's Table Tennis 's center, it is all Yinhe's stuff. Moons, Jupiter et al.
NB: There is no Andro, Joola, Tibhar here. If you are these users, shoo... go away. Go back to France, US & Romania.

Innerforce with Rozena might be the most sensible option if you want to use modern materials... Especially since the kids won't access the carbon force much without proper power.
H3 isn't a difficult rubber to learn basics with either.

Other than that, yes, you can make great loops pushes and chops with classic materials, and they will sustain your level easily up to the higher amateur ranks.

For true beginners, I think you're better off starting with a slow blade and using mid tier rubbers rather than starting off with a fast blade and dog shit slow rubbers. I played for 2 years with Xiom Aigis back when I was first getting into table tennis. For reference, I was truly a beginner. My first rating in 2012 was 1087. lol My most recent rating was 1820 I think, but that was 8 or 9 years ago. I've been living in Vietnam for the last 8 years and I haven't had a chance to play a rated tournament. I was at the peak of my playing level right before covid hit. I didn't play too often in 2020, 2021 and 2022. My level is starting to come back now as I've been playing regularly recently. I think could hit high 1900s (possibly 2000) if I came back and played some USATT tournaments now.
