Hirano has the toughest R32 of the Japanese women. She faces CXT who has a 5-0 record vs. Hirano. Miwa has a good draw, but I don't know her physical condition having lost to Asuka Sasao.

Tomo vs. Matsushima in 1st round. They split 2 matches this year.

Come to think of it, the only thing somewhat exciting about this tournament is the participation of Zhu - it will be similar I think though not as big for obvious reasons to the return of Zhang Jike. The draw only gives her two matches at most if she is lucky so we will see how it goes.

Is Ovtcharov playing? I don't see him on the player list
Seems like he pulled out and Chuang filled in. He had a Bundesliga match yesterday, maybe he didn't want to make the trip so late or something happened.

It is interesting to see how ZYL plays after a pause in several years. Wu JingPing appears to coach her? If ZYL can pass the first match, she will meet WMY in the second round. Tough match.

When i saw the very beginning of the match i thought Bajor would win 3-0
ZYL seemed slow to react and easy to catch off-guard on wide FH balls.
But Bajor didn't dare to play there and stuck as usual in womens game to BH rallies where ZYL was more consistent. ZYL pivot movement was also good there. Her ball quality was intact with many shots heavy loaded in spin, but i felt she wasn't as consistent as before due to her slow movement.

IMO Bajor respected ZYL too much, she should have played an unconventional tactic, recognizing her opponent deep weakness. Bajor also deserves a TTD donkey on match point !

I think WMY will absolutely crush her.

Still, a great achievement for ZYL. very inspiring comeback victory 3-0, all games won at deuce.

Why is she playing for Macao? Any juicy story?
she is no longer part of the CNT
so can't play for China any more, that is for sure.

She also can't play olympics for Macao
so to me, it is maybe just an income stream for her.
