MLTT Has Implemented the Ability to Challenge an Umpire Call w/ Instant Replay

Princeton Revolution vs Portland Paddlers - MLTT

Side ball gets challenged at 32:55 between Jens Lundqvist and Jishan Liang.

I believe I saw a let serve be challenged in one match, and the table being moved during a point as well in another!

Just thought that this is super interesting and useful, and I’m wondering why the heck WTT hasn’t implemented something like this?!

Good idea in theory but if anything the challenge calls were only really good for stalling the match, time taken to process a challenge call lasted longer than a timeout. No challenges were successful during week one but there were only a couple that I thought were really able to be proven with the footage used to review the play, the others would've needed much better footage to know for sure

That might be the case when it comes to just points being overturned or not.

But players probably appreciate the opportunity to at least make their case. We've seen a lot of controversial points and ref calls really upset the course of a match, and ensuring fair play may be worth adding a minute or so of time.

Recently we've seen Gauzy get rattled by some iffy calls. Maybe his fault for letting it get to him, but some people are less able to shake off unfairness and dealing with it isnt the point of the sport.

Other stuff like the ref getting the score wrong like in a recent match with the Vietnamese player definitely needs some system to force review. A 30 second video review easily fixes that issue. Instead an entire country sending a player to WTT for the first time is soured on their experiment and may not participate again any time soon.

The BORDER TAPE --WORTHY IDEA TO ADOPT.

What about attachment of a border tape behind the table's end line? You must remember American USATT has once introduced the such for the sake of fair serving. Worthy idea to adopt.

Although this is a nice addition, I feel like it wouldn’t be very hard to put some sensors in the clamping area of the nets to detect whether the ball hits the edge or side.

And while we are at it, lets add some sensors to the net-posts as well to detect let serves.
Yeah, I agree with this. I mean, in this technological age we're living, putting on simple sensors won't break WTT's bank, will it? Might be cheaper than installing high-res video cameras if they're against it.
