Does any one thinks that buterfly is overpriced?
You pay a premium for their whole range of products. For some of the their range it might be justified as it's very high quality and consistency, but for a lot of their low-end range it's no better than that of other brands.
You're also paying for their R&D on equipment, and their huge number of sponsorship, much more than any other brand, which is probably good for the sport as a whole.

It is absolutely overpriced.

Its good. Some of it is very good and some is even excellent but absolutely for what you get it is overpriced.

I don't know a single amateur player that couldn't play as well with other brand equipment at half the price. I'm not saying they don't exist I'm just saying I haven't met them 😉

By performance metrics it's only worth it for professionals because they can extract every ounce of speed and spin from the $350 blade and $160 rubbers, throw them in the bin and stick new ones on tomorrow, for free!!

For amateurs it's like wearing $70 football boots or $400 football boots. The boots don't make you better but you just like wearing them, it's all aesthetic, bling and status.

If you're a little bit 'form over function' and like spending dollars to feel good then Butterfly have the expensive, hero branded products for you.

If you buy sensibility, evaluating price performance ratio only, then it's almost certain you'll choose something less expensive.

My 2c 🤷

Yeah and they are abusing their power to deny sales here in Germany. No other brand is doing that.
that is true, a lot of tt shops in germany don't sell butterfly, or when they do then not officially and just 'behind the curtains', because butterfly has a really restricted selling policy. i don't know many people playing butterfly in germany and when you do see one then there mostly full butterfly fans and come with a whole arsenal of stuff to the club as if there would be sponsered xD

because that is really uncommon in germany. here you have the opposite and the most played companys are andro and tibhar
That may also be because they're German (i.e. local) brands, so likely to be cheaper and more popular?

yes, they are marketing and business gods
but i think that is so sad, because tabletennis is such a niche sport and most companys invest in clubs, sponsor players or even tournaments, so there really connected to the scene. while butterfly is doing this weird marketing strategy of beeing super exclusive and disconnected.

I completely agree, but you'd be amazed at how many people gladly pay the high prices of Butterfly if they're convinced it will win them just one extra point a game.... and the placebo effect will probably do that that!
