Hi all, I'm really struggling on deciding on a forehand rubber that would suit my style without spending loads of money trying different things.

I have linked a video of me playing, it's definitely not my best game but all I have to show you, I'm the tall chopper!

I am using the Butterfly Diode V blade but I am going to be trying out the Butterfly Diode Pro blade also.

Thank you very much 🙏

I'd say D09c is good for you, but obviously expensive.

I personally use Loki Arthur China for my Chopping and it's really good for both offense and defense, it lasts a long time, is cheap and similar to D09c.

It won't hurt to try, under 20 Euro from AliExpress.

Hurricane 3 is also an option, but the whole boosting thing can be annoying.

Thank you for the reply.

Why do you suggest dignics 09c, what is it about my game that would suit that rubber?

What kind of improvements do you want over the 09c you are playing with at the moment?

more spin, safer flight of the ball, higher or lower throw type things?

Cheers

As you say, you're a chopper and so in this video you're playing far more BH shots than FH shots (just like in your older videos), and the majority of the FH shots are pushes/chops too.

IMO, unless you plan to make your FH much more aggressive/become much more of a modern defender, neither H3 nor Dignics make sense. You need a boring slow tacky rubber ... but you've been there before so EJ away :)

I was honestly just wondering by using footage of me playing if a particular style/type of rubber would stand out as being suited to my game.

What boring slow tacky rubber would you suggest?

Sorry, I dissagree with people recommending hard sticky rubbers for choppping. Since you chop away from the table you will need some extra rebound speed from the rubber.

Dignics 09C is designed for close to the table counter attacking play. Even Timo himself admitted that its not good when you get empty balls from your opponent. And although you can theoretically chop with it, its not recommended. You can see the balls pop up quite high on your chops because of it.

Also on a sidenote: Not even the pro choppers are using Dignics 09C. For example Filus ,Gionis and Folwarski, they all use Tenergy 05. Tenergy 05 is very responsive though. And the pros use it because they need maximum speed for their level. Tenergy 19 is a more controllable version of tenergy 05. I think it will be great for chopping and even countering if you may need to. So use Tenergy 19. You pretty much can’t go wrong with that rubber.

Thank you for the advice.
I will look in to tenergy 19.
What would be your thoughts on using dignics 05?

Too hard, Tenergy 19 will be easier to use. Same goes for the VS 401 (also too hard).

Like I said, all the pro choppers use Tenergy. Even Joo Se-Hyuk used Tenergy when he still played.

Tenergy 19 is a rubber that will suit your needs.

How do people think Victas VS 401 would suit my style?
It's has very good spin, bit heavy on the weight. I know a couple of choppers that use it.

The dig is heavy on the rubber so might work also you don't attack massively being more of a classic defence type player.

Other plus is it's pretty durable.

How's the season going in BL for you?.

Cheers

I will give it a try.

I do have a sheet of Victas v20 double extra that I haven't used, do you think it would be worth trying?
