Lefty - are they real lefties, or actual righhanders who play with they left hand?
or maybe they are just able to use both hands?

In Taiwan, over half the left handers in the national team, I know are actually right handers

so, 1) Guess who in Taiwan?
and 2) who else in the world are fake left-handers

Well I might be the reverse-born left handed but forced by my grandma to be right handed. So currently ambidextrous, but my handwriting with left hand stuck at 7 year old. I can play left hand ok, but certainly not better than the right.

I'm left footed and right handed

Can't mount a bicycle from the left hand side, play footy with my left, but I write and TT with my right hand.
My left hand is good at small movement coordination though, like hitting the right piano key or something. Right hand is more versed in larger movements.

I am left-handed because I do all sports on the left. Football, all racket sports, basketball (left on top of the ball), darts, golf, etc...but...they taught me to write left at the time in school because we had to learn to write right there. I can get by with right in table tennis a little bit but services are guaranteed to go wrong.:D

I am right handed/footed in almost everything except for writing. Bit for some reason I have always been decent at everything with my left side as well.

When I played football I could almost shoot as good with my right as I did with my left.

When I did kickboxing, my left hook was actually stronger then my right.

And when my right shoulder was injured and orevented me from playing table tennis, I played about a month or 2 with my left hand, and I actually managed to win some matches with it.

I think we must start a new trend, playing with both hands, FH top spin with both sides
As a way to cope with the shakehand grip crossover point issues, hit balls deep into one corner always with a forehand. And for jpen means super forehands and neglecting the issue of wear backhand. Done deal.

I'm dumb because i'm a fake right hander table tennis player lol. When i was young playing tennis at the club, i used two hands for forehand and backhand. my coach said if i just move my right hand down to the bottom of the racket (instead of the top) i could turn my left handed backhand swing into a right handed forehand. So i did that. and my left hand became useless except for writing, using a fork, and brushing my teeth lol.

Left hand is the Right hand to play TT.
ding, ding, ding WINNER. I am left handed and I can safely say that serve and recieve is much better for my open ups- cross court serves from poor, unsuspecting righting get smacked back. Interestingly, I throw and play basketball with my right.
PS. I see what you did there.😂

I learned to write with my right hand (in a very outdated education system), and I play TT with a right-handed penhold. But I play tennis with my left hand because my left side is stronger. TT relies more on finesse, and tennis relies more on pure power. I can play TT lefty as well (using shakehand grip) but I play about 300 ELO points lower than my right hand. I think this is because my serve/receive game is worse with my left hand, even though smashing and looping is much more powerful.

I think it's important to understand that handedness isn't a binary thing, since different hands can be good at different things. Especially because of the bias towards right-handedness in our societies, many people who are naturally left-handed learn to write, eat, etc. using their right hand. So they develop a sort of mixed-handedness.

okay, time to share a bit of fake lefty culture in Taiwan

It is quite common that since small, a right handed player would be trained to play left handed. The reason is quite vast, but one of the more common reasons is that lefty is different angle, so there is "some" advantages.
Cut the long story short, about half, if not more, of the lefties in the national team over the years are all fake left handers. This applies for both mens and womens.

It may not just be the writing hand, because for chinese character, as it is common to force one to right it with the right hand. But one could spot other behavior you eating (using chopstick) and playing other sports, or using the hand like in the XX video of opening the ball, gluing rubbers etc with the right hand. You guy and ask if you are a fake lefty, and most of the time they will say yes.

Now, when did this all start? well over 20 years ago, maybe 25-30 years ago in Taiwan.
