Have you played with any unboosted? I’m not too fond of the idea of reboosting every 3 months or so.
I’ve been playing my H3N unboosted so I don’t really understand what boosting does
Yes, I don't think H3N is a very good rubber at all without booster. Its just dead.
Boosting expands the sponge of the rubber, essentially it kinda dissolves the sponge, expanding it, which makes it softer, springier, and creates tension in the rubber. Like many modern "western" rubbers does, Butterfly for example has "spring sponge x", it creates tension which creates speed and spin in the rubber.
The Hurricane rubbers do not have any tension, they come just plain, so you have to boost it.
But since you have to boost yourself you are also in control in how much you want to boost, how much softness and tension you want to have. You are just given the controls to essentially customize your rubber. But you have to get involved. Like I said in my last post.
But if you just want a good first recipe to try;
Go with a provincial blue sponge 39° or 40° Hurricane 3 neo.
Get yourself the Haifu yellow booster.
Apply 2 thin layers of booster. 24 hours between each layer.
Wait another 24 hours.
Glue the racket:
-1 EVEN layer of good glue (DHS no15) on the blade.
-2 EVEN layers of glue on the rubber. wait 45 - 60 min for each layer to dry.
That will give you a very good Hurricane setup to try out.
But again. If you don´t like the idea of boosting, reboosting and all that. Don't do it.
All rubbers die after some time.
Dignics series last long, but when dead can't be revived.
Hurricane lasts long as well, but the booster will "evaporate" before the rubber itself is unusable. So you can reboost it after 3-6 months and it will be fine. If you're lucky you'll gett 2-3 reboost out of a Hurricane rubber.
So it depends on how much you play, and how sensitive you are to the booster effect diminishing.
There's a reason the chines pro's have freshly boosted fresh rubbers each match. But most of us are fine with a approximate schedule like this one.
You also get used to the diminishing effect, so it might be hard to tell and remember how the rubber felt when freshly boosted. But there will be a point where you feel it's time to boost again.
