Xiom Omega 8?

What is the closest rubber to it in terms of easy access power. Also could you compare with other non xiom hybrids?

I haven’t used any Xiom non tacky rubbers, in fact the last time I used a non tacky rubber of any sort was at least 2 - 3yrs ago!!
As far as ‘easy access’ power is concerned, and hybrid rubbers then J&H H52, Joola ZGR, Donic Bluegrip C2.

Yes 172g to be exakt. I like the weight under 175g so Im happy with this setup.

In the following link there are pics of Xiom Omega Pro with 2 layers (thin layers) of Dhs #15 and 1 layer on the blade. I leave 1-2mm rubber beyond the blade for security reason. Total weight of the racket with one side glued rubber is 140.1gr meaning that O8Pro with 3 layers of glue with some buffer cut to the Viscaria (157x150 mm size) head weights 49.7 grams what is very good result but h3 Neo BS with 3 layers of glue and 2 layers of booster is waiting for assembling 🤣🤣🤣

If it was possible I whould like to play 5-10g lighter total setup to. But will not compromise with the feeling and power in the material because I love the rubbers and have also tryed a lot of different blades before I found this one match my play realy nice.

Think the control and block of this blade is amazing even if it is a fast blade. And together with the Xiom rubbers its just a killercombo.

VIII Pro & China on my new purchased 2nd G. Viscaria. I’m curious how it will behave vs my main blade H3Neo + D05. Yesterday I got a bad cold and started sneezing and have running nose I hope to get better and test them this week

ok, these are not rubbers for me. I'm not saying they are bad, I'm just used too much to harder rubbers now. 8 China is too soft on FH comparing to DHS H3 Neo BS 40* and I removed it after one training session. I put DHS H3 Neo BS 40* (boostered) while still keeping the 8 Pro on the BH. Yesterday I gave it a shot having 2 identical Golden Viss. with the same FH rubber but different BH rubber. On the testing one I have 8 Pro max, on my primary I have Dignics 05. I did warm up using the testing one which was quite good, no difference on the FH, on the BH it was softer. Quite good on the drive, required more force (which is hard to imagine because it softer than D05 so should be more bouncy) and on BH topspin it allowed me to do some slow spinny BH loops what was really good, and made me more fun.
And we played a match It was totally disaster!!! I lost 3:2 and 8Pro was too soft to what I am used to. I could not counterspin on BH, when I received slow spinny loops to my BH and tried to block, ball went out of the table. Even my opponent noticed it that I was playing different. It was my advantage to place the ball wherever I want if it comes to block or just counterspin. I lost many balls I couldn't control it. Ball sank too much in the rubber. I know that it requires adjustment and some work but what for? I take my primary weapon with D05 on the BH and everything matches each other. He lost.

Probably on the different blade like Timo Boll ZLF (slower to Vis) where I was playing T05, T19, O7Pro it would probably match better. Above mentioned rubbers I really like on TB ZLF and they are more likely from the same department (i mean in terms of hardness ) differs each other in some small aspects but for me on the faster blade like it is Golden Vis, compering to TB ZLF, I'm playing better with harder rubber. I can block really good, hit hard no matter of anything, loops slow/fast what I want and I can feel/control the ball much more better.

Going forward these are for sure not bad rubbers but we need to find the right blade and the question is whether it suits our playing style.

after a week or two, I gave Omega 8 Pro a chance again … a have some shoulder problems and thought, maybe it will help me with the speed (wasn’t wrong after all, but more on that later).

first what I have noticed, after re-gluing the rubber back on, that it shrunk! in the meantime, rubber was fitted on my backup blade, but yeah, it definitely shrunk - I always leave a milimeter of rubber extra after first fitting when cutting it to the blade from, but now it fits almost perfectly.

I decided to go back to Omega 8 Pro because I have some shoulder problems (calcification) and we had a regional league season ending tournament today and was looking for a bit of help, so I fitted it back … and it was actually amazing. it was completely different, it was fast, but controlled, great do it all rubber. one thing was still there - this really nice, crisp ball feel this rubber has. so maybe I will stick with it even after the shoulder is okay again …

it is a great combo with TMXi and Vega Pro H on backhand!

anybody any updates on durability of the new omega 8 series yet? especially omega 8 china.
i want to switch my bluestar a1 and looking for something around the same hardness.

the best rubber for me was hybrid k3 but the durability was horrible. bluestar was okay, same as any other modern tensor like rasanter or bluestorm. i tried nuzn but didn't like the serve and receive, but the rubber durability is amazing.

after all the trouble with Omega 8 Pro I am starting to really like it. after cca. 15 hours of play it looks like new. one thing I did notice - sponge is not as “fat” as it was and the rubber shrunk a little - I always cut with some margine, cca. 1 mm - and now it fits to the edge … (I don’t stretch, of course).

but I do like J&HC55 a lot as well and am tempted by China and Hybrid … but we only have until end of April to play so I guess I’ll wait for the beginning of the next season.

I gave up with Omega 8 series and stopped EJing (I sold them to my friend both Pro and China), I found out that for me nothing works better than D05 on BH and H3Neo BS on the FH so I will not be looking for something that I might change in my current play. As mentioned I'm curious for Zyre-03 as butterfly fan will probably check when it appears on the market.

I tried Omega 8 China and it feels better than C55, it's a bit faster with slower hits, so it's easier to play, but still very grippy and direct.

it's also on my wishlist ... quite a few now ... C52.5, Omega 8 China & Hybrid, Z52.5 ... and that's just Xiom ...
then we have Donic's new hybrids (J-series) and Rakza Z, Rising II and Shining Dragon II ... DHS GoldArc 8 (BOTH!) ... the list just keeps growing and funds on bank account keep running ... 😂

if there would be a way to resell these rubbers once I tried them, it would be much easier, but not much interest in my region for such market, unfortunately ...

I am loving it more and more and after unfortunately destroying C55 I tried it on forehand, and guess what - it works great!

like I said many times … Vega Pro H is very linear, very controlled, but it actually gives you what you demand of it. so if you want it to be fast, and know how to properly extract speed out of your strokes, then it will be fast. but if you prefer placement over power, it will help you do just that … it is an amazing rubber.

I also have a feeling, that more the more technically advanced player you are, the more you can extract out of this rubber. could also be the rubber + blade combo.

and, it will not stab you in the back like H3N will …

I have O8China (BH) and O8Hybrid (FH) on one of my blades, I’ve played twice with the set up whilst coaching.
On another blade I have O8C on both wings.
Both rubbers are very similar.
I had to take off the 2 sheets of O8C because they had started to detatch, a couple of table scrapes with no edge tape!!
I was concerned that they might shrink slightly but they re glued perfectly. No shrink.
I’ve been using Tau 2 for a season or so, I have Tau 2 on two blades as well.
The feel is very different between Tau 2 and O8C/O8H, Tau 2 (for me) has a ‘muted’ feedback compared to the other 2.
I really like Tau 2, it’s underrated imo, but O8C & O8H are good rubbers and the firmer more ‘precise’ feel suits me well, my BH s more direct and ’feels’ much better.
I have one nagging doubt, that being durability of O8C & O8H. If they are like J&H H52, and the Omega 8 top sheet of O8C & O8H is supposed to use the J&H tech, then I’m expecting the top sheets to deteriorate much quicker compared to the long lasting Tau 2.
The J&H H52 top sheet started to loose it’s glossy(ish) finish and the ‘dull’ areas were noticeably less grippy to the touch.
I’ll continue to use the O8C/H during the summer, see how it holds up, and decide at the end of August whether to use it for next seasons league matches.

I've also got a sheet of O8 Hybrid to compare with O8 China. Had a few sessions with them side-by-side, and like IB66 says they are very similar. The only impression I got was that O8H felt a bit softer overall but lacked some of O8C's feeling of catapult in the middle gears, so seemed a bit more linear to me. But it was marginal and I could use either and be happy.

Not totally sure how Xiom will market these two, with them being so similar. And then you have the potentially incoming C52.5 as well? That's a lot of similar rubbers in the same space.
