First practice with the O8C. I accidentally hit the racket on the table. What a shame.

About the O8C, it is a bit heavy. 52g on the Harimoto ALC. I used on Forehand. Backhand is K3 FX.

The sponge is hard, but the top sheet is soft. It is not that fast. It is slower than the K3, but it is faster than the Vega Pro H, Rakza Z, K3 FX. I found the rubber to be well controlled, I was able to put a lot of ball on the table, even when hitting it hard. I will use it for more practice sessions to get a more detailed opinion. First impressions were good for my game.
Painful :(

sorry, can't compare J&H X47.5 ... yet ... it's on to do list, but for now my local shop provided me with the Omega 8 Pro sheet, black, max thickness and what I noticed immediately was how thick the sponge is ...

rubber is quite light for this thickness, 65g for whole sheet, 47g after being cut to the TMXi blade. unfortunately I won't be able to play until Monday, will post more on Monday. now I have Xiom AJH TMXi with Omega 8 Pro, max, on Forehand and Omega 5 Europe, max, on backhand (had previously O5E on forehand and it was really nice), wonder how this combo will work together ... but yeah, can't get this Omega 8 Pro thickness out of my head ... is it just me or it's ... fat? 🤪

i played with omega 5 euro on my backhand for a long time and the difference between max and 2,0 was basically non existent... i think the pimples are so long that max is already around 2,0.
the pimples of omega 8 pro are shorter, so more room for sponge and max will be something like 2,2

I think you are right. I did compare the left overs from cutting the rubber - Omega 5 Euro and Omega 8 Pro are same height ... but the topsheet is lower on O5E, sponge thus marginally taller. and then I added Omega 7 China Guang (2.1) and the sponge seems to be close to Omega 8 Pro ... all three are exactly same hight when put together ...

Wanted to come back and give an update. O8C still plays well after a month of playing but changing my verdict. It’s more like Rakza Z than 09c. Slower than 09c but better control. It’s also about a gram heavier. Still prefer 09C for the combination of spin and speed.

Do you prefer rakza Z or O8C?

I've also played O8C for month now. It looks like shit, but still plays very well. For me it's very different than Rakza Z though. Much faster and late strong catapult. Maybe on low power shots it's a bit similar.

I see in your description TMXi + Vega Pro H - is okay? recommend, not recommend?

thinking about the O8C, too ... first will try how O8P will play, that thick max sponge is scaring me, but on the other hand should let the ball really sink in nicely ...

That's what I played before trying O8C. And even though I'm getting better at controlling the O8C I still might go back to Vega Pro H on forehand. It's the most linear of the modern rubbers I've played. Makes controlling the placement super easy. It doesn't have the top end speed and spin of O8C, but still enough and is much more controlled. But O8C is more fun for sure.

finally played with Omega 8 Pro ... it's ... well, to be honest - I am disappointed. ok, I did play only for two hours, but yes, I was on the verge of getting also Omega 8 China, so i would have a nice, modern, fresh setup, but am really in doubt now.

my version is black, max thicknes. I can compare it with Omega V Euro (red, max thickness), and with Omega VII CG (red, well, only 2.1 thickness exists, so ...), as these are the rubbers I played with in combination to O8P ... so, during warm up, first surprise was - it is not as fast as I feared it would be. slower than O5E for sure. hard to compare with O7CG, as it is a bit different rubber in speed department ... but, what struck me, was lack of control. feeling was not too bad for such a thick rubber, but control was really missing. with looping it was a bit better, started slowly with higher, full rotation loops, then progressing in to faster, less rotation loops, it was okay, but something was missing ... then my hitting partner would start to loop and I could not passive block one spin. and usually I am the one not missing. 10 loops, 10 times over the table. then I tried over-rotating his spins a bit and it was a bit better, but always had a feeling, that the ball will go over the table (but it didn't). then I twiddled a bit and played with O5E on forehand, and all was good. was able to block, was able to spin nicely, place the ball nicely, had a nice sense of wether the ball is too long or just right ...

then I went to backhand, and things were better. except for blocking. balls were at least landing on the table but I never new if it is long or not ... the strangest feeling ever.

then we went into match play and it was better, but still lack of control or better said - sense of how I hit the ball. now, it could be max thickness playing with me, but I've played with max rubbers for my whole life.

short game, pushes and serves were good, good rotation, here the rubber was great. I good make nice backspinny short pushes or press on with long spicy pushes into the elbow or belly region ...

after that I changed O5E with O7CG (wanted to try something) and O7CG was also much better. except for short game and pushes, this is where O8P is really good, and if you played with O7CG, this rubber is the Queen of short game and pushes in my department at least, but O8P is really close. also with serve returns ... but the rest is ... I don't know ... maybe it's just me ...

now that I think of it - I also play tennis a lot (during summer) and we have a special jargon with these hits where you have no idea, where the ball is going to land - disconnected. that would be the right term. blocking, driving, you feel disconnected. you know you hit the ball, but have no idea how far it will go.

I am now thinking of reverting back to old setup (Omega V Euro FH and Vega Asia DF on BH) but since it was a looong working weekend it could be that it was just that - tired. so maybe I will give it another try on Wednesday or if I find some time, tomorrow ...

I think after 3 hours playing with the 8Pro its much faster then the 7Pro, but maybe my test is not fair because I changed the blade to. Block is a dream dough, after some adjustments. But I think it feels a little bit softer then the OP7 in same thickness max. Maybe the change of the whole setup that make its softer but whould be strange because the blade is hard and fast. To few hours to make a fair review, always liked the OP7 will se if this OP8 also be my friend after moore hours playing. I think it will.

it could also be that, rubber maybe doesn't connect well with the blade? but it's all new gen - blade is TMXi, rubber is the latest, so it shouldn't be a problem, I guess.

I think it could be this ice & fire, 2in1 effect bothering me. maybe this is not suited for me ... or I would have to exactly understand when the rubber is in ice stage and when it goes into fire stage, if you understand me ...

Yes I will give it a month I think I just have to play it in. I’m not a PRO player so it take some hour to play in new equipment.

Before this the setup was Anders Lind with OP 7 and now I have Koki Niwa Carbon with OP8 . Bigger difference then I thought.

playtested even more today and I can say that I "shook hands" with Omega 8 Pro, we are getting acquainted, but am affraid we'll never be friends, much less best friends. it does give you great feeling, though, it's really good feeling when you hit the ball, it's just that 2in1, ice&fire factor which is giving me problems - i.e. I hit two or three, mid-distance topspins, which are perfect, everything is almost dreamy, and then the opponent surprises you a bit and you are "on the wrong foot" and you don't hit the ball perfectly and it either dies or just says buhbuy and flies over the table.
many could say "but that's normal, isn't it?" ... yeah, maybe, except that I didn't have this problems with Omega 5 Europe (FH) or Vega Asia DF (BH) ...

or, as it was with one point during matchplay - the opponent surprised me a bit and I was stretching for the ball, it was quite a save, and then I was caught a bit of guard, but it was still a nice ball and I did hit it decently, but it just ... Omega Air it was ...

I did connect with the rubber more on backhand, but yeah - maybe it's that max+ thickness ... maybe it's blade+rubber combo, maybe it's it the whole combo with me included ...

Is your setup with tmxi?
My setup is tmxi pro with o8pro max for bh, d09c Fh and I found that o8pro suits the blade very well on bh. Did swap it around but didn't quite like it on fh. Many players in my club tested my setup also found it to be a good combo.
I've played it for the past 3 weeks and the feeling has been consistent.
Probably give it another try to get more acquainted :)

yes, tmxi, correct. I agree, it's much better on backhand - intention was to use it for forehand but seems to be working better for backhand. would prefer a thinner version for BH but it is what it is ...

but the feeling this rubber has, even though the sponge is mega-thick, is unreal! maybe with more playtime this would be a perfect rubber, but with life and everything, if I play 3 times a week, I am a happy kid ... would play more, but day only has 24 hours and week only 7 days ... 🤪

Now after 7 hours with the rubbers I love them just as much as I did with the OP7. Perfect rubber just as I tought when they released it even if the first hours was a little bit different then I was used to.
