Help Identifying if This DHS Hurricane Long 5 Is Genuine

Maybe this is a duplicate or a frequently asked question — sorry if that’s the case! Just want to be extra sure before buying.

I'm looking to buy a used DHS Hurricane Long 5 and wanted to get a second opinion from the community to confirm if it's genuine.

Here are the details:

• Blade model: DHS Hurricane Long 5 (IDK which version , )
• Weight: 93g
• Thickness: 6.0 mm
• Blade dimensions: approx 160mm x 150mm
• Handle: FL
• Condition: Used

I've attached photos of the blade (front, back, handle lens, and dragon engraving) and the box. One thing I noticed is that it doesn't have a hologram sticker or scratch-off code, but I’ve heard that some don’t always include those (not sure).


Do the specs and visuals look legit to you? Any red flags I might be missing?

HL5 stands for Hurricane Long 5.
BBXGXHF is the serial number which links to a date of manufacture.
128 is the batch of that specific production.

Thanks for clarification, do you have any idea how to decode the data of the manufacture from the code? in addition, how much do you think a used one is worth?

Looks authentic enough to me!

Not that you need to, but you can also ask who you are buying from where they got it from. If it is from TT11 or megaspin, etc. that'll confirm it even more.

I would say around between $90-$110ish would be a good price given reasonable wear and tear in the US context (source: I have had a couple of people buy used HL5s in this range)

I can't remember the full letter to number translate. But I remember B-2, C-3, D-4. So the first two letter bb means it was produced in 2022

Nope, I don't know the code. But if you do www research you might find something.
As for the price I'd say approx. 100 USD as already mentioned should be fair.

The seventh digit of the letter used to distinguish between the Commercial or Provincial version, but DHS has eliminated that distinction beginning in 2020, and both versions are now Letter, F.

This is before 2020, so is F suffix at the end meaning provincial?
