I know her as Kotomi so I'm fine. I'm just explaining where the Aimi Menda came from.
ok
so it just seems to be a TTD user problem
i wondered, who or where else it was wrong, since all the officials ones were never wrong before :)

I guess this is just the way Google translates it.

Ex: https://x.com/nukata_takutt/status/1909648034486710343
The translated text:

Shibata's counter was followed by Menda's counter!! And then Shibata counterattacked with a backhand!! This is a big play!!!
as Peter has told said, there is both Kana and Kanji there.
Kana on google translate to English here is correct. Kanji is not and you were looking at Kanji, the wrong.

But then again, the players correct English name are generally easy to find (since T-League, J league etc all use the English names too).

Google translate is not reliable when it comes to names - so presume it is wrong all the time and rather use fact checking methods, than oppose to machine translations.

Hopefully you won't get stuck with the same issue for other players :)

Still not listening.

As noted by Peter93, the 仮名/kana/fake name like alphabets in English, in this case 平仮名/hiragana (used for people/things of domestic origin nowadays), おもだ ことみ/OMODA Kotomi are known as 振り仮名/furigana and serve as a phonetic notation like phonics in English to clarify how 面田 采巳 should be pronounced. Ideally, they should be placed as superscript above the 漢字/kanji/Chinese characters when written horizontally but there is no easy way to type those out without proper software support so the folks typed them out on two rows instead. Failing to pick up the clues, Google Translate was left to pick which reading method of the kanji to use and in this case, it picked 音読み/onyomi/Chinese reading for 面田 (Menda) and 采 (Sai, which was mangled to Ai for whatever reason) but 訓読み/kunyomi/Japanese reading for 巳 (Mi), when in fact 人名訓/jinmeikun/名乗り訓/nanorikun/Japanese name reading, a subset of kunyomi, should've been used, which would've reduced it to a few possible readings.

If you get a chance, can you ask her if she is trying to make a T-League team? She has been playing superbly this year. She's gonna be a force in MLTT.
I probably can answer you in a couple of weeks time
