Tiago not happy with the unstable table. There have been other complaints too like not enough toilets or the AC not doing its job (is there even one in the tent?).

Yeah - why are they playing in a tent? Sorry if I've missed why?
I wish I could tell you.

Wow - so strange. I guess easy to reconfigure for later rounds when less tables needed. Bit it looks totally amateur. I guess theres hardly any seating for the later rounds as theres no banking.

So weird.

Table 1 is in a proper venue, but looks like there aren't that many seats in the tent for viewers. I would feel ripped off to pay for such seats.

F. Lebrun (6) 3-2 Togami (-9, 8, 5, -4, 8)
Togami has changed/adjusted his BH stroke (more compact with a FH stance), with a more streamlined FH step-around, in response to playing at 2000 ft above sea level?
G2 29, 79 TO for Lebrun, 710, 810, 811
G4 06 Lebrun served into his chin
G5 12, 42 Togami served into his chin (?) and TO for Togami, 72, 73, 83, 85, 95, 96, 106, 108, 118
Notwithstanding the high altitude, Togami seriously needs to fix his serve... Committing suicide like that when it mattered...

CDS 1-3 QD (12) (-4, 8, -3, -6)
nice that you mentioned about Togami's bh, I think it's starting to look a bit like Lin SD's, compact and relies more on wrist strength, but srsly he made a lot of mistakes either in defense or attack. His fh dragged him to the 5th but it wasn't enough

The variety of pace is still a great problem Togami need to solve, right now he's an engine that has only 1 very high gear. As soon as Felix start to use more spin loop to brake the pace he fumbled badly, not just this match but his recent loss to Jorgic and Harimoto too

If only he had better coaching after ATTC 2021 when he was 20 and more malleable. He is lucky to have won WTTC MD gold (easiest draw in recent years) at 23 (the magic number) and is vulnerable to a slump after such a good year. It's more complicated than just skills now, having to deal with his fame and status from here on, on top of expectations from before that he has yet to meet.

Hashimoto 3-1 Bergstrom (-12, 7, 10, 3)
Bergstrom whiffing the serve at 5:6 of G2 shifted the momentum to Hashimoto.
G3 16, 36, 37, 47, 48 Hashimoto served off the table, 78 TO for Bergstrom, 79, 109, 1010, 1210
G4 82 corner edge for Bergstrom, 83, 113
Bergstrom could've won in 3 games if she seized the opening, given Hashimoto's rather shaky start.

MS R64
Oh Junsung 0-3 LYJ (7) (-7, -5, -6)
Matsushima 3-0 CSM (8, 9, 6)

WS R64
DHK 2-3 SYB (10) (9, -8, -6, 8, -4)
DHK's FH couldn't hold out anymore near the end.

Eerland 3-2 Zeng Jian (-7, 10, -8, 7, 9)

Quadri really rocked Zhou Qihao who also seemed affected by the cheering. My friends were so loud in the stadium that I could tell because of the lag in table streams when Quadri won a point before it hit my stream because I could hear it on another table that was ahead of Quadri's match. Zhou might not admit it but for me that game 1 timeout was a clear sign the crowd cheering was getting to him. Quadri did the damage and played more backhand openers than I remember in all my years watching him. Harimoto should be next if all goes according to plan.

BTW, Quadri's luggage hasn't arrived. Luckily he packed blade and rubber and my friends lent him clothes and shoes. Other than the weird gear, you would not know the difference by his play. Amazing stuff. And good coaching by Jide too, I was surprised by the game 2 timeout but Quadri won the last two points after it. All in all fun to watch lol and get the gist after.

Looking forward to watching Miyu Nagasaki vs. Wang Yidi in an hour or so. Miyu has been playing some amazing table tennis lately. She's always had power on both wings, but now her level of consistency has shot up and her recovery has been much better as well.

While serving at 4:8 in G1, Nagasaki was faulted for presumably (the height of) her ball toss. Really strange because her toss seems to be high enough. What's up with the referee?

Uda 3-1 Nicholas Lum (3, -7, 8, 10)
Rather tight for the last 3 games. US Smash is crucial if he is to meet his 2025 goal of reaching the top 20.

今後に向けて

世界ランキングがまだ30位なんですけど、1つずつ上げていってまずは20位目指して頑張っていきたいなと思っています。

WS R64
Dragoman (Q) 1-3 Hirano (7, -4, -4, -8)
G4 28, 58 TO for Hirano, 78, 710, 810, 811
More like her usual level, but still had trouble to close out games.

Ito 3-2 JCH (-6, 2, -6, 8, 7)
G3 43, 46 TO for Ito, 56, 510, 610, 611
G4 31, 33, 43, 45, 65 slight net for Ito, 85, 87, 97, 98, 108 JCH served off the table, 118
G5 20, 24 Ito served off the table, 44, 45 Ito served into the net, 65 TO for JCH, 95, 97, 117
Like Hayata, winning with so much difficulty.

MS R64
Baldwin (Q) 3-2 Liang Jishan (WC) (-9, 3, -10, 5, 6)
Mission accomplished. LYJ next after ATTC 2024.

WS R64
HY 3-1 Ng Wing Lam (Q) (7, 6, -10, 7)
G4 33, 73, 76 TO for HY, 86, 87, 107
Not bad for taking 1 game.
