Sad to see Hashimoto lose after a promising start.
Yes, same here. SYS was scarily impressive against Hashimoto, but everything clicked for SYS from G2 and Hashimoto uncharacteristically made many mistakes.

From a world ranking point of view, this result is not so bad. Hashimoto will add 45 points (90-45). Assuming SYS will win against Odo, the latter won't add any points. If Hashimoto had won today and lost to Odo tomorrow, Hashimoto would have added 130 points (175-45) whereas Odo would have gained at least 175 (350-175). Of course, my calculations go out of the window if Odo upsets SYS.

I think Hashimoto has a good chance of overtaking Odo on 28 October (that's when Odo's 1,000 points from her win in Montpellier will expire) and becoming the third highest ranked Japanese player.

A medical timeout needs to be approved first? Has it always been this way? Hina wanted one and got it.
the umpire can decide
it mustn't be an injury that occurred before the match started though (no idea how umpires would know)

one can always use the new "toilet" break too lol

But Hayata has had this injury since at least Paris last year...
It would seem strange to have it approved as a new injury?

Yes it has always been this way. Even in tennis as well. They evaluate the nature and description of the injury to see wherher it occurred during the match or was a preexisting condition. A lot comes down to how the athlete describes incurring it so it isn't perfectly objective.

Depends on what injury she described. Don't assume it is the one you know about even if it is related.

Umpire called the referee who talked to someone over walkie-talkie and summoned an on-site doctor (?) before the JNT staff were able to look at her hand.

They should just call the toilet break the Paris break from now on lol

The other thing about the timeout is that she got to talk to her trainer and I believe coach. That is the kind of thing yhat makes me question all this, just let them have their personal coaches rather than copying China who does it differently.

Was going to say this as well. From the look at Miwa face she was pissed that Hina was allowed to have her coach there for the medical timeout.

Considering Hayata's poor English, I cannot fathom how she convinced the medical staff she had two separate injuries to the same wrist, one of wich was a completely new occurrence...

That said, I completely agree that it ended up in an "unfair" situation for Miwa (who looked clearly pissed), which could have been avoided by simply having the coaches on both sides.

USA! USA!
so we going to have a MLTT with a WTT champions roster ownership.
but I can't say the same about the players.

This will be the only sport league in the world where the owners will out play the professional players hired by them.
My guess is that the "owners" are given basically free shares of what's really a pretty worthless stock for marketing purposes. They're probably paid some cash with the opportunity to turn those shares into something of worth if they can use their names to boost the brand. One of the clubs I play at has Wang Hao as the "advisor". I'm sure he doesn't actually do anything of substance, he posted a youtube video addressing the club once, so it's just a marketing association.

glad we don't need to see that post

best out of 5s, so many deciders, the better player wins on the day.
