Agent Tony indeed.
Even Liam’s club asked me if I have a player to reduce the injured him.

WS QF | Hashimoto vs XY 3-1 (-9,9,7,7)

G2 5:8, 7:8, 7:9, 11:9

Strong challenge by XY, but Hashimoto weathers the storm and prevails. Hashimoto pulled out the same amazing play at important stages at 9:7 in G3 and 7:7 G4. She was defending and at some point moved closer to the table, twiddled, and blocked with inverted to the wide FH.

Sato 2-3 HZJ (6, 14, -12, -9, -6)
Sato got yellow-carded at 4:6 of G2 and then red-carded at 6:8 of G5.
HZJ beats Sato by expedite rule, the same tactic used in her win over Hashimoto at WTT FEE ESS in 2022.

I didn't catch the whole match, but did He go for expedite from the start? Wouldn't be surprised since she can't beat Sato otherwise. That said Sato needs to up her attacking game with or without expedite. Hashimoto is superior in that regard and that's how she makes plenty of points.

I've watched maybe all of international Honokas matches in the past year and that twiddle to BH punch against the loop is new to me. Usually she uses the BH punch against high pushes.

Xu Yi sent some safe high loops to Honokas FH side and she was able to smash those back so later in the match she tried it to Honokas wide BH side and then those got punched for winners. Happened twice towards the end. Beautiful stuff and awesome to see her trying new weapons.

iirc, Hashimoto used this tactic (successfully) once in her loss to WMY. Agree it's impressive she is adding new weapons to her arsenal. At 7:7 in G4, this tactic changed the momentum back in Hashimoto's favour. She was leading 7:3, got a bit complacent and it was suddenly tied 7:7.

SXY 0-3 Yokoi (-4, -11, -12)
It's at a time like this that makes or breaks a world-class player.

Nagasaki (16) 3-1 HZJ (12) (3, -6, 6, 7)
SXY (11) 1-3 Kihara (14) (-7, 7, -6, -7)
Indeed the 1st most unfortunate generation. What they have managed (especially the contribution to members of their own teams and other teams) under the shadow of the golden generation makes it hard to dislike them. In much the same way, what Miki House has done to JTTA makes it hard to like Odo and Yokoi.

OTOH, I never found out why SXY was put on the back burner after winning WJTTC 2016, the only gold medal (1 out of 7) for CNT, now I do. Like QTY, Tieba/Douban users who followed SXY's Weibo back then noted that her mind was not quite on table tennis...

WS QF
Harimoto 2-3 CY (8, -7, -7, 5, -8)
First win for CY and only against a run-down Harimoto.

According to some experts, attackers never play for the expedite rule, @zeio. You must be hallucinating....
