Well I'm talking about what was on display in this specific match not their forehands overall. I'd be curious to hear any analysis on how Oh dominating on the forehand side was the story of this match in particular.
It was a very close match, dominating might not be the right word, but he wasn't bullied on the forehand for sure, it felt very often like Togami though he could just hit winners there but when it turned into a rally after some of those "winners", Togami was often caught off balance.

She played the way someone who is taking their best chances exactly should play. Took some risk to disrupt Wang's game and the probabilities worked out in her favor. Of course. Wang's inconsistency will be a part of the discussion but I think anyone watching the match would be very impressed with what Diaz actually did.
Oh she earned it for sure, great play!

His FH is nice, but I don't know if it's a super dominating one. He plays with a bit more of a spin based FH, kind of like LSD. Very few data points so far but I do wonder if that's a weakness for Zyre users, with Harimoto also losing to a more spin based player like XF. Perhaps the extra thick sponge and thin topsheet needs more speed from the opponent to maximize its capabilities.

Big difference between not getting bullied and sneaking a few counters in and being clearly stronger on the side. From what I see Oh won the match with his usual rock solid BH-BH play and then punishing Togami on the step around and I don't find it really debatable that that was the main difference maker. But if there are points and games someone can point to I would gladly re-watch.

How tall is Chen Yi?

Ive heard people say 1.85m, 1.8m, and 1.77m.
Over 1.80cm, but not 1.85cm. I guess 1.81 or 1.82. Likely the tallest national team woman player ever.
WMY's official height is 1.77cm. Standing side by side, CY is clearly 2 or 3 inches above Wang.

QTY is another tall girl, a backhand oriented player with weak forehand, a crafty playing style but lack of explosiveness and killing power. CY is a different type of long legged girl who is explosive, fast with powerful forehand and solid backhand.
QTY has limited ceiling which she's already reached and on the way down while CY has much higher ceiling and still climbing.

CY's game has another important element, mental toughness and calmness. With proper coaching and hard work, CY can reach the level of WMY. She is just that talented.

I think it was after /during the last match with Wang. Ever since then he has gone back to his old game and has been slow again, even at the last tournament before this. He can beat some people playing that way but not the best or tactically aware Asians. Hopefully he will heal enough soon to continue his progress.
Not going to happen. Okay he can train on it a bit but his natural reflex/reaction time is too slow. From his FH to his BH is still good but from his BH to his FH his reflexes are not enough to take over his opponent offensively.

Man, you've got to stop making everything about equipment lol. Togami has a highly powerful forehand. I'm not sure if by spin-based you mean that he plays with slow and controlled spin but that would not be accurate.

Harimoto also lost to Xue Fei at Singapore Smash before the Zyre switch if you need any more evidence.

At least for me if anyone calls a net, I treat it as a net and never argue. I don't really play umpired games but there are tons of times when my opponent calls a net that I didn't see, I don't bother arguing about it. If an umpire called it, I sure as heck wouldn't argue either regardless of whether I won or lost the point.
My way dealing with net call as well.

As years gone by, my vision is not as sharp as younger days, sometimes I felt like the opponent served net ball, and called even though I'm not totally sure at the split second. Thankfully, most my opponents gracefully accepted my call without any issue. However, I call a let before returning the serve. I did see some players push the ball into the net or mishandled the serve then call the let.
If umpire calls a let, I accept the call regardless I see the net serve or not, simple as that.

Cool. I don't really know how talented she is yet. She doesn't strike me as being on WMY level talent-wise.

But I'll root for her just because she stands out.

1.76m is often quoted for WMY in mainland China but not likely.

Wang Yidi should retire :)
For future reference.

This ongoing one is back from World Cup 2025

不是吧,大迪现在连迪亚兹也能输 (No way, Big Di can even lose to Diaz at this point)

有人在意的角落,蠢迪输迪亚兹 (In the corner people care, Dumb Di lost to Diaz)

王艺迪亚锦赛还是让位给陈熠吧 (WYD'd better give way to CY for ATTTC)

王艺迪vs迪亚兹的比赛观赏性是唯一接近男线的 (WYD vs Diaz is the only match that is close to the men's in terms of watchability)

It's not the reflexes but the stubbornness to stay close to the table and therefore lack the time to switch and hope that the opponent will not aim so well he cannot block. If he is injured like I think he is, that is what is causing it, you can see in game 6 of the Wang match, he really stopped moving after the injury timeout.

Oh’s fh is just way stronger than Togami (his physique too). I was thoroughly impressed. It felt like Togami was trying to catch up the entire time.
The point at 8:7 OJS serving in G5 that should've been in the official highlight was the one that highlighted the FH difference, not in point-ending power but in keeping the ball in play.

OJS beating WCQ to get MS bronze at ATTC 2024 (Shinozuka got lucky with his MS bronze at ATTC 2024) meant something compared to Togami's MS bronze at ATTC 2021 in the absence of CNT due to the National Games. Even Shinozuka's MS R64 finish (beating XF in R128) at WTTC 2025 garners for more respect than Togami's QF finish given Harimoto's 2nd loss to XF this year.

The match point as well is worth watching. Togami's shot selection is very interesting. As with all things, work in progress!

Welcome to the free real world. PC has no place in mainland China when your average population has an IQ that tops the world. It's just like Einstein's comment on China 100 years back that merely stated the truth.

Guo Yan commented on WYD's flaw (which WYD told her) after beating Ito in Hong Kong Open 2018. Even the official media acknowledge...

球商 同一个坑踩两次!王艺迪到底输在哪?张本美和显然有备而来 (Ball quotient: Falling into the same trap twice! Where did Wang Yidi lose? Harimoto Miwa clearly came prepared)
