You don't think Lind, on current form, will even take a game off Calderano?

Heck, if Anders plays like yesterday, he might even make Hugo sweat enough to break out his mini time-buying towel.

Regardless of outcome, I'm definitely looking forward to it!

(And we have Bud v Canelo in the meantime.)
Crawford Canelo first, then maybe WCQ later. priorities

Have two screens going here. Just watched WMY take down CXT during that Mbilli/Martinez slugfest.

He might take a game but beating Hugo in a game is not about current form, beating Hugo is about having the discipline to execute tactically consistently and tactically against supernatural athleticism, I don't think Lind has that, but I could be wrong for sure.

Lind joins the club of non-CNT players who have beaten both LSD and WCQ - i believe that’s Hugo, Harimoto, and Truls. Anyone else?
JWJ, who actually has the better record than the ones above other than Harimoto and Calderano.

That's, like, the definition of cancel culture.

But it obviously didn't work because the man was on TTD recently and there was zero controversy around it.
Call it what you want, social standards are not only relevant when you are found guilty in court. He isn't in jail but his previous sponsors dropped him and he isnt explicitly associated with the national team. He is allowed to do whatever he wants but not all avenues are open to him. TTD also markets him to a different audience, he is still a TTdtar for sure but he is likely to escape the social issues related to anything he has done in China.

Well, there is a running joke over at Tieba, where people have noticed a pattern that whoever beats LSD will lose the next match, hence the term "KK laxative".

kk是一款泻药吗?为啥谁吃谁拉稀…… (Is KK some kind of laxative? Whoever takes it would get the runs, why?)
https://tieba.baidu.com/p/9519800961
理性讨论张本美和是不是也是一款泻药 (Level-headed discussion - is Harimoto Miwa also some kind of laxative?)
https://tieba.baidu.com/p/9691518345?pid=152055882847&cid=0#152055882847
kk有超能力,非常特别 (KK has special power, very unique)
https://tieba.baidu.com/p/9836958676

林德昨天赢了kk吃了泻药,今天要输了 (Since Lind beat KK yesterday and took laxatives, he's going to lose today)

This is what Grok dug out:

It mentions court documents, so this scandal goes beyond mere cancel culture after all. The loan shark actually went to prison.

Why I am not surprised Lind had a huge performance downgrade against Hugo? Main reason: he spent too much beating LSD just a few hours ago. For a player of Lind's level, very good but not great yet (in terms of consistently performing) upsetting a very stable top player carries heavy cost, he was simply spent and didn't have much reserved for Hugo.
A little surprised Hugo didn't get a single game from WLQ. Maybe the ramification after he beating WCQ and LSD in one tournament not long ago still has its effect considering he got swept by Duda last tournament.
What happened to Tomo after his upset of WLQ in the champion event in Japan? Same performance downgrade and he was swept by a fragile XF.

In the final interview, WCQ's last words seemed like, 'I worked hard to make sure Chinese men's table tennis team is still the same team.'
However, the translator interpreted as '... table tennis is still the same' cutting off Chinese men's, a huge difference.
WCQ also mentioned he felt the heavy burden due to current status of Chinese men's team and had to do his best to play this match.
During the award ceremony, WCQ carried a very reserved facial expression, no victory smiles, a sign of someone under great pressure for quite a while and still feel the pressure moving forward.
Whether or not you like WCQ or not, he is currently by far the best player of the world. He demonstrated the character of a solid champion who may have occasional hiccups but usually bounce up quickly. When he is on, he is simply unplayable to anyone facing him across the table.
I said in the past, one of his very few weaknesses is stability as he tended to go through a few months of up followed by a period of down. Now, it seems he has developed out this swing pattern. Well, he has to be, as he is China's single core player now. LSD can help but he still young and experiencing some growing pain now.
I'm looking forward to the next ITTF team event and want to see the rest of world challenge a vulnerable Chinese men's team.

There was a Smash in Europe in between that where Harimoto lost to An Jaehyun. What's going on there is anyone's guess but it is not as simple as a performance downgrade.
